Personally I agree with you gents but there is no harm at looking at our middle order stocks and seeing what talent is available. That said I reckon # will find a way out of his currently indifferent form and start making stacks of runs again. He will have the second innings of this test and perhaps the remainder of the series in which to do so. The time at the crease today will have been a help to his confidence levels.

And Duminy doesn't fail to disappoint. Guess he will make place for AB, unless that upsets the political balance of the team. Let's see ...

silly

We are sitting in the pound seats.

He top scored in the first innings. Not everyone makes runs everytime.

Hopefully AB stays out the team....at least he will for the rest of the series

JP has played well since the NZld series imho. AB is a pretty class player and I still think he adds much as a batsman. However if Bavuma gets runs in this series and Amla gets more (and better) runs in this series I think it will actually be hard for AB to simply waltz back into the test team. Especially if you consider the quality of the back up batsmen coming through.

Not every time agreed, but average of 33 after more than 60 innings?

He has been shunted around a lot and has had to bat with the tail for a fair bit of his career which more than likely affected his career average.

How is this commentator on SS.

Herath vs Themba.... Two greats of the game facing up to each other.

Slap in the face for Pollock, Ponting, Kallis, Sachin,Ambrose, Sir Bradley Wiggens ..etc.

Herath something special but both still some way to go before being greats of the game. IMO

And that brings us to the close. An interesting day's cricket and South Africa will end feeling pretty happy. They were tottering before lunch when Kumara picked up a brace in the same over, but Dean Elgar's hundred anchored the recovery. He was aided by De Kock, who has reached the close unbeaten, and South Africa will hope their lower order can push them towards 400

So what's your guys take on qdk at 7? It is kind of working.. But.. He always runs out of partners... Let's see how much support Kyle and Vern give him tomorrow

I'm in two minds. He seems to enjoy batting lower down and being freed up to bat aggressively. It also seems to focus the lower order to stick around. The only reason to promote him would be if we decide to play an extra bowler, as the likely player to lose out would be either Duminy or Bavuma.
