Oh man, what a blast from the past. Brett Schultz. What a awesome bowler. Richard Snell, Mayrick Pringle, good old days.

Craig Matthews, Eric Simons, Brian MacMillan, Vinnige Fanie and Steven Jack. Are amongst the others I have fond memories of. Big Mac used to be the guy I wanted to be most like. Damned fine player he was.

Jis Big Mac. Love that guy. Always looked like his bat was way to small for him. When I played primary school cricket. We used to use that same sun screen as Alan Donald. The Yellow en Orange all over our noses en cheeks ha ha ha

He was my class teacher at school, was quite hectic when he all of a sudden got called up to go to india and then WC in aus the next year.

Wasn't the greatest rugby coach, however!! He used to play 2nd centre for the b team during practice, was quite hard for an 11 yr old to bring down!

There were sessions in particular in the 1st test that Aus got big reverse -

SA 1st innings Stark ran through the tail with reverse after 50 overs or so, and in the 2nd innings SA was doing ok in the chase but Aus again ripped through the tail (they kept bowling with the old ball after the new one was due).

I guess SA team knew what was going down and whispered to the tv team to search the footage.

thought this was a joke, he's 36 and retired 3 years ago!

Imagine some okes at supersport have pulled an all nighter going through the footage of the durban test!

the ball got replaced by 40 overs it was so roughed up

I've been spending a few months working with athletes as they prepare for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Oz

There'll be a somewhat different focus on this sporting event now.

Down Under under the spotlight

all falling into place.

warner gets demerits, so hands the ball shining duties over to Bancroft who gets busted on his first attempt. the thing is warner might miss the next game anyway the way things are looking.

but yes, those glass houses

sheesh 5 down.

did note that they zoomed in on the ball, it's only 30 odd overs old but looks like a ball about to replaced at 80 overs. and surprise surprise they are getting it to reverse.

We need to learn what tricks they are doing, because it is not normal.

Well there you go, they really did butcher this one that it only lasted 40 overs (would love to see the pics of it).....

Cummins to de Villiers, no run, yowch, the new (old) ball introduces itself to de Villiers via a rap on the gloves! Dug in short by Cummins and AB leaps to get on top of it, takes a whack on the top hand - but he's okay to continue

Looks like we're going to get a change of ball here... The old one has gone out of shape and is replaced

Other way round.

According to a report in Aus, it seems that Vinnige Fanie who was doing the Afrikaans commentary, suspected something and told the camera men to keep an eye open. Once they Identified Bankrot as the culprit, they followed him around until they got all the evidence.....

And the rest, as they say, is history.

With all the crap going on in the Australian Camp, I hope the proteas isn't getting to ahead of themselves and already thinking about the Victory in the last test. Sometimes these underdog status have a way of bringing the best out of the team. Just like the old Boks. When everybody have written them off, they come back and play brilliantly.(not the boks of AC).

I thought the two umpires did a decent job trying to control the situation. Their only blemish was coming off for bad light a bit too early on the first day.

I assume Nigel Llong was really having a handful trying to tell Faf to stop the chirping.

who can remember when last a test series has been this hyped in the media? Marketers who believe in the mantra that there's no such thing as bad publicity, must be drowning in drool at the escalating media presence this series has had. They must be screaming in rage at any attempt to bring this latest fiasco to a swift end.

they really are drilling into this situation. analysis by mike haysman on the amount of swing generated by the aussies. given Vinnige Fanie's comment on the fact the pitch was effectively grass, and thus very unlikely to roughen up the ball that quickly, the stats clearly show an unusual situation.
