Hey Guys,

So after a ride or a race what is your routine for maintaining your bike? Be it cleaning out some dust on the fork, crank, chain, rear derailleur. Re-greasing the chain ect?

What keeps your bike in tip top shape after a ride and why do you do it?

Chain off and cassette off ( cleaned in thinners and left to dry )

Bike gets full wash and all cables lubed .

fork gets cleaned and some fresh grease applied ( it's a lefty so I'm a bit more pedantic with it )

wheels off and sealant checked in tires

all put back together, dried off and some Mr min applied to bring back that show room bling .chain lubed

put on the rack for the next race , ride .

Every 5 odd rides I strip everything a regrease , from BB30 cups to seat post to stop creaking.

My routine is less rigorous, I bounce it on the suspension a few times to get the grit off the tyres, then I just put it inside and leave it there until the next day.

Iron do you seriously check the sealant every time?

Wash everything, dry EVERYTHING properly, apply lube to your dry chain as well as a bit of aerosol "lube" (Tool in a can, Q20, WD40 etc) to the pivot points on your deralieurs (A squirt on your forks and shock won't hurt either as well aa a spray on your pedals if you ride in cleats) wiping off any excess and making sure you don't get any lube on your braking surfaces. Visual check on all components and replace anything that looks like it is damaged to the point of failure or if there is any chance that it can damage anything else.

Why? Because I can't afford to replace it anytime soon!

Yip , it takes a minute then pump it back up to pressure . i found no matter what sealant i use i get those "coral" things forming real quick . i then pull them out and top up. and no i dont use a bomb to pump them up ( only when i get punchers on a ride )

  1. wash with car shampoo...chain and cassette in clean green bath.
  2. dry and check for any cracks and issues on frame and wheels
  3. inspect jockey wheels and cables
  4. wash chain and cassette with lukewarm water and little parktool brush, then fit
  5. chain on + lube

30 minutes

Well I ride almost daily so I do a bit of both.

After a shorter ride in the week

My routine is less rigorous, I bounce it on the suspension a few times to get the grit off the tyres, then I just put it inside and leave it there until the next day.

And before a longer ride - normally over the weekend

Iron, how many bikes do you own? Do you do this with training as well ?

As soon as I have some energy I spray the bike down with the garden hose, leave to dry, apply lube to chain and hang up for the next ride.

Iron, there may be something missing in your life :whistling:

own three bikes , do it to all of them and find time for my gorgeous wife and two kids .
