Hi All

Anyone know where I can buy a coffee tamper that does not cost more than a flipping hub!

Regards

H

There's a hubber on this thread that turned his own, I know he has intentions of turning another, maybe he'll take orders...

Edit - Maybe I should read to the end before posting.

What machine do you have? Maybe someone local to me has the same one and i can use the basket for a day...

Now the Coffee Machine is a "nothing special" Russel and Hobs, but we have learnt to work with each other and I can get a rather respectable coffee out of her.

The little coffee basket measures in at a whopping 51mm dia. so the 50mm tampers would be what I am looking for.

FYI

To determine the roasting date for Beanthere coffee. Subtract one year from the expiry date.

Just moved into Illovo and the Thrupps shop sells Beanthere coffee. No more oily Woolies coffee for me.

The only way to get fresh beanthere coffee is to actually go to 44 Stanley - we have a weekly order from them direct, and it STILL is not fresh.... and I am in Illovo too - most days.

Must say I haven't found an SO from them I really like, but may be the age of the beans as well

WW - pull the gasket out and clean it and underneath it too - should last for years without needing replacement, so its much more likely to be dirt stopping the seal, or a leak somewhere else.

Thanks will do. Possible I have not correctly re-seated the gasket before?

The leak is on the left right where the bayonet lock of the PF engages the GH. Bubbles out there and dribbles down when extracting.

Take the basket out of the portafilter and clean the pf and the basket - especially where they seal against each other (under the rim of the basket - and check the rim of the pf & basket for damage, and that your basket does not have a bunch of blocked holes - hold it up to the light and you can easily see if you have issues.
