Coffee machine

Recommended Posts

Just google Hario V30 or Kallita Wave.... basically filter coffee straight into a cup.

Ja, but how much easier and maintenance free can you get than a good plunger and a kettle? Just made mine. Took less than 5 minutes, and voila! Instant (almost) coffee. I just need to replace my grinder and I can go back to beans instead of pre-ground.

True, coffee craft is fine, but sometimes you just want a quick coffee. I was on the road the weekend and going through some little dorp I just wanted a coffee, stopped at KFC and they didn't have any, so stopped at the Gas station across the road and they had those small franchised coffee shops, the guy brewed it up quick and off I went, nothing special, but at the time it was great and I thoroughly enjoyed it,....I guess I am just a pleb.! :D

Woolies in Buffelsfontein road in PE make an awesome cappacino!!!!

A humble purchase by your lofty standards V12man but today ordered the Oscar and grinder. Didn't go for the combo that is on special but a better grinder called the MDX. No stock at the moment. Two weeks. Sigh

Awesome! Hope Allessandro helped you out?

Waiting for mine as well. WW, how's the steaming on the Oscar? Easy to control ? I've read that the 4 hole steam tip takes some getting used to.

Lekker two more Oscars getting out there!

Getting used to versus what? You can change the tip if you want but if you've never used a machine of this class yet it can feel overpowering. Versus a Linea it's barely a cough. Milk heats quickly if you only steam enough for one cup, so you don't have much time to get air in before having to incorporate it into the milk. The knob allows you to control the steam power so it's not just on/off. My only gripe would be that the tip can be a bit short for only a little bit of milk to get it properly submerged and also a bit strong for that, but for a big cup or 2 small cups you are fine.

You can never have too many jugs... :) they are like bikes - they just multiply...

I know I have 6 jugs at work, and at least 8 at home... - from 400ml - 800ml - but I can NEVER seem to find a clean one when I need one..

If the steam feels too fast initially - just block a couple of the holes with bits of toothpick - that will give you more working time - you can even go as low as 1 hole - but I would drop it to 2 as a first cut and see how it goes.
