The teams are on the way back home. 2 bikes seem to be lost...out of 3 remaining bikes 1 bike damaged and frame will probably need to be replaced. Some sadness all around but hey we move on and next year will be back!!! Nothing can kill the spirit of MTB'ing!

I think in these circumstances you need to give one back :)

I dont think you're mates were silly, bikes locked on a trailer, then they steal the trailer - thats audacious.

It had occurred to me when i went for Panorama that the Thule can be removed with bikes on pretty quick, but i've had it eighteen months before that penny dropped.

My mate had his 3 bike Thule ride on pinched off the tow bar.It has a lock and I now make sure I use it on mine

I was half expecting to read about murder or death on the road ... relieved that is not the case.

Guys can make a plan I am sure, its just replaceable material goods. Insured on all risks hopefully.

No, I work my fn @$$ off everyday for 8 hours, getting up before 5 to be at the office to make the money to pay for my stuff. Nobody should steal anything from anyone. But yaaaaa. Can't fn underastand that insurance comes into mind. F insurance. As they say prevention is better than cure. :cursing: :cursing:

Sorry to read about your devastating trip. I hope your are able at least recover something from insurance.

I had my Bicycle nicked off my Thule rack. Outsurance wouldn't pay me out because the bike was visible. The letter they sent me stated it either had to be in my boot or my cubby hole. Harry Potter couldn't even expecto patronum a bike into a cubby hole.

I guess bikes inside house is the best option...don't know details, perhaps no space etc. But still...the whole town is a buzz of riders, bikes and spectators! So unecessary!!! Damn I am so upset!

Leaving anything outside in SA is just stupid, your looking to get it stolen. Sorry to hear but nuff said, as jy dom is ......

I had a trailer and 2 * Honda XR500's stolen many years ago. Went off to varsity for the week came back on the Friday afternoon looking forward to a good weekend of racing only to find trailer, bikes and all my racing kit MIA. That was the last time I did any motorcycling racing of any sort

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

I'm quite happy to leave my bikes locked on the Thule roof rack. Someone once tried unsuccessfully to remove the front wheel on one of the bikes. Just not enough play to allow it to be taken off.

the bikes can be replaced, but missing the exp and adventure of the Sani is what i would be most upset about. i got into berg and bush last year and 4days before we had to leave i got Flu... i was very grumpy..... :)

Good luck man! :)
