One of the chicks screamed at me to be careful when I went past on the steepish descent before the Hells queue. I was equally polite and told her that it would be easier if she let her brakes go a little. Didn't look back to see if she appreciated the advice, lol

you turning into a racing machine .... !

Lol, I wish. I have to make up time on the downhills as I'm too slow going up.

Just went on and die burger photos are there. They got a really cool one of me going through the river. They don't normally order them by date.

Yeah, I'd agree the most recent should be at the top. But if you look a bit down you'll see all kinds of interesting things.

My Garmin's stats for the 60km:

Elevation gain: 1,531m

Loss: 1,518m

Minimum: -2m (must've been through that one mud hole or under the bridge :) )

Maximum: 437m

1st climb: from 5.34km to 9.50km and 270m climbing = 6.5% gradient

2nd climb: from 23.85km to 29.54km and 269m climbing = 4.7% gradient

Approximate for the climbs, but imagine the road climbs in Europe where it's > 15km long and > 10% gradient!

On garmin connect, click on elevation correction. it uses barometric pressure to calculate ascent and descent meaning that if the pressure changed slightly, your elevation data would be inaccurate. Just a bit of fyi :P

On that note, lemmie go check mine :D

I see that the winning time for the 60km is 1:28:47. That's is either a mistake or we have a new mtb champ in the making that we didn't know about.

Yeah, saw that and thought I'd be more than happy if I did that on a road bike! Same with 42's, also some sub 1 1/2 hour rides there, if I remember correctly.

It's not the average gradient that kills me, it's those nasty 15-20% little monsters that make up the climb that really break me.

It was a tough ride for me, but still proud I was able to finish in one piece and starting to see some improvement.
