I quite often cross (cycling lane) paths with a dad coming from the Paddocks side towards Blouberg in the mornings. Little one sitting on a Weeride or other in front, bigger one on the half wheeler in the back. Always laughing and chatting. What a stunning way to spend quality time with your sons every day!

When I was a laaitjie, I remember that my folks bought two bikes and we loved to sit on the top tube. The only problem was that we were too many kids and had to take turns

That Dad has been cycling with his youngsters for some time now and is, as in agreement with you, really cool.

Yesterday I passed a new Cool Dad with his daughter fully dressed in pink being taken to pre-school :)

We started like that and progressed through the various size bikes, a tandem and are now on 3 road bikes when we ride that route - look now because very soon you won't be able to see that we are father and two boys, the way they are growing. I now don't really have to slow down for them anymore and soon I'll have to push to keep up.....wonderfull!

priceless quality time:

my son who is 16 on his own bike and my 20 year old daughter with me on a tandem.

the simplest little things stick in their minds, like:

the early morning dew that collects on their eyelashes when the mornings are a bit misty.

the smell of the sea riding thru Moullie Point.

the smell of coffee in the same area past Newport.

seeing the sun rise over Rietvlei.

spotting birds of prey on Contermans/Malans/Adderly/v schoorsdrift

commenting on the various shapes and sizes jogging along the clifton to camps bay strip.

hearing them say 'its cold but i feel so alive'

Me and Wifey usually try to take our 2year old 3times a week for a ride. And this is the best bonding time as a family. He loves it.

I've got a 6 month girl and was wondering what the best seat / thing is for rolling with the little bin-lids and what is the best age to start.

I recommend the Weeride Kangaroo carrier - www.weeride.co.za - 12mnths is a good age to start
