It is used only as an indicator, prefer that to making a mark with a hacksaw blade, etc.It helps as we have to remove the seats when loading in and out of our cars, VW polo, boot.apparently people in the racing side of riding (the ones that goes for bike fitments) use that for a seat hight mark.... so when they put the seat post in it doesnt go further than that point... or am I wrong?
