Have you tried putting a 5mm odd spacer under the bottom bolt? tilts the nose of the bottle down and you might be lucky to have better fitment after that.

Used to do it on my Scott and got just enough clearance...

Have not tried that. Under the bottom bolt meaning the bolt sticks up a little and pushe don the bottlom of the water bottle?

No - between the cage and the insert,so that the bottom of the cage is lifted off the frame a bit more. Try 1 then 2 then 3 washers

and only on the lower bolt so that the top of the bottle cants down towards the frame rather than running parallel to it.

Or buy a side loader from me for R195. Perfect for tight spaces.

Just so - the nice light plastic nuts that come with some bottle cages to hold them on the packaging work very well - might want to drill them out a fraction.

The only time a bottle will out of this is when you crash. Movement on your MTB is almost all up and down, not sideways, so the force of the bottle is up into the over arm that keeps the bottle in place. I haven't had one user tell me they've lost a bottle on the sideloader, despite the promise of a replacement camelbak bottle if they did. This offer was futile as all I did was overstock on bottles that were never needed.....

My Silverback Vida 1 came with Shimano M520s and I don't have the appropriate shoes for them. I quickly swapped them out for a cheapie pair of flats from LBS, but my AEST flats have FINALLY arrived from China. R400 on ebay, magnesium body and titanium axle - 78g each. The 530s and the cheapies were both 190g per pedal.

They're a small purchase but the weight weenie I hide inside is dancing, and the otherwise black & white bike looks just a bit sexier. :)
