Okay - roadie alert...

But how the heck do you clean MTB shoes? Mine was two heaps of mud after the 50-miler, ended up just trying to clear the mud out the bottom by banging them together after they've dried. But the shoe itself? My one ratchet doesn't even engage properly. No "chunks" left any more, but obviously some mud inside the ratchet and the shoes look like... well they have a bit too much character!

Can I spray them off or what is the usual/recommended way of having them resemble themselves again?

i soak mine in soap water then scub down with brush. nothing special.... and it works.

ps im not a roadie nor a pro so my mtb shoes are black ie. not hard to clean

bucket with sunlight liquid or omo and hot water. and then a stiff bristle brush. but then my diadoras have velcro straps and my time cleats and pedals dont mind mud

One of the reason I don't buy MTB bike shoes with ratched . Hose them down and leave in sun to dry !

Wash them normaly (I use soapy water and brush). Just stuff them with newspapers and put them OUT OF THE SUN to dry.

Rinse them off under a tap and brush off the gunk and dry in the sun.I dont pamper my stuff and they last fine

Every now and again while there is a pot of stew on the stove and rugby coming up I clean and service my bike and wash shoes, camelbak and helmet in the bath with woolite and rinse well

Cool, thanks for the feedback!

Yeah, I did for a very short moment wonder about the wisdom of the ratchets when I bought them...

At least they are black (under the gunk)! :whistling:

I give them to my domestic engineer - they come back clean - I think she sprays them with the muc off bottle that lives near the outside sink (bikewash area)

My epic partner puts them in the dishwasher - but my wife would shoot me if I tried that...

Jokes aside............a simple sponge and handy andy............. if very muddy then yes, washing machine will do the job.

I usually get Veronika to clean them, always look as good as new.....................

True...Gladys is my go to for this, I am in the process of teaching her how to service my fork and shock, she is a star!
