petatodd Posted July 23, 2012 Share you heart is in the right place, doubt they have that amount of moola lying around!Just get MTN to stop pissing money against the wall on Manchester United. FFS, what a waste that is. TopFuel
Shebeen Posted July 23, 2012 Share looks like you get four main types of pro team sponsors:*networks who could actually get a return on marketing exposure and it might even break even - eg Skytv, discovery, bike brands(BMC)*rich companies who (well the directors) like to throw money around, don't necessarily have an affinity to the market - luiquigas, phonak, quickstep, saeco, BARLOWORLD*charities - lottos/french banks*federal power - astana/katusha I don't see MTN fitting into any of these categories, and since they are focussed in building networks on developing markets will see 90% of their sports marketing budget going to football.cycling is transport, not a sport and therefore has no marketing appeal. So i'd be interested to see how they're pitching this TdF plan to the board. GLuvsMtb Posted July 23, 2012 Share Now why would you want to mix a Kenian in with a bunch of South Africans? #justplaindaft.
Sean32 Posted July 23, 2012 Share I wish!!! Apparently though MTN's longterm objective is eventually enter the TDF... However, surely that would require a non yellow kit?The kits has been approved by the UCI and they will race in Europe next yr and Hopefully at the TDF in 2014. But only half the team is from RSA rest is up North. This is what i am told how true this is not 100% sure.
