dracs Posted September 25, 2012 Share yeah and whats really nice I am able to eat it with my one mouth and drink my coffee with my other mouththat is handy. I also think my cycling should improve but I haven't yet figured out a good way to add a third pedal for the extra limb I've sprouted...

Velouria Posted September 25, 2012 Share It becomes a bit difficult to decide which cause to support. I'd rather support local farmers and their produce than worry about unproven claims about GMO. Of course, if presented with credible evidence, I'll change my mind... Paul Saad - FutureLife owner: "At FutureLife®, we source our maize and soya from South African farmers. Presently more than 90% of the seeds used by farmers that grow maize and soya in South Africa have been genetically modified to suit local African conditions. This has been the practise over the last decade. This effectively means that any product made from locally produced maize and soya will contain genetically modified ingredients. The practical way of ensuring that products produced contain no genetically modified maize and soya is to import these products from overseas. Generally products produced in countries are a function of their agricultural policies. We being a South African company support local farmers and it is impossible to guarantee GMO free because of the way the products are grown, stored and transported. Importing maize and soya from overseas would add significant cost and be at direct odds with our strategy to provide great quality food products at value for money prices." dracs Posted September 26, 2012 Share Its your choice not to consume GM foods and I respect it but the internet is a dangerous place with lots of misguided information (on both sides). I have no issue with GM foods, same as I've no issue using Conola Oil for cookingI agree... Being informed a good idea, and if credible evidence came to light on a particular crop or whatever I would take note, but its worth remembering on the issue of GM food most web sites will present an extreme view one way or the other depending on the vested intetrests. Yes there is money in GM foods but its naive to think there isn't in the organic / natural food "movements". Bottom line - anecdotal evidence is we have an increasingly healthy poulation in markets dominated by GM crops... If you want to pay more and limit your choices, try by all means to avoid GM crops but by just not eating future life you are not going to get there... If you want to convince me, show me the science (and not that dodgy science done by that odd Frenchman...). Some Einstein inspired nuclear physicist who believes GM foods are responsible for the problems with humanity isn't good enough. Or that GM crops are a western ploy to economically enslave African farmers...
Skott5 Posted September 26, 2012 Share On a side note, has anyone tested the nutritional values that are posted on the sides of the boxes ? Ok probably not, it would cost a fortune. But I heard from a reliable source that they are challenging Future Life on theirs, saying the some of the values are not true...Makes me wonder in general how accurate those nutritional stats are anyway .
