Evening

I feel massively obligated to do this as I've never felt so embarrased before. I advertised my Merida Team D Carbon frame for a really good price. This evening Eon from Potchestroom drove all the way to my place (Fourways) and after careful inspection, low and behold we found a hair line fracture.

What an absolute disappointment. I felt like a first prize chop. Eon, I sincerely apologise for this, especially the fact that you drove so far. I'm lookig for petrol and matches at the moment.

What is a "hair line" fracture???

Are you sure it's not just the clear coat? Carbon doesn't "hair line" - it's either a crack or it's not.

Merida have a 5 year warranty on their frames, you just need the proof of purchase . . .

Thanks, will be following up first thing tomorrow morning.

Yup. check this again. I thought the same thing had happened to me hitting a pothole on my old trek carbon USPS replica. Turns out it was the vinyl that split and when I removed this and checked the frame properly there was nothing wrong with it at all. Put new vinyl on a rode it for another 3 years as a road bike and currently busy turning it into a commuter or fixie....

So is the Merida still for sale? :) I am meeting a "brand new hubber" at the airport today to lay down a fair amount of cash for a carbon hardtail...imagine if that thing has problems on it, where is he going to leave it, because he is on his way overseas? Or maybe he is just popping in to the airport from Boksburg to mo*r me and take my cash :/
