This cant be good - my girlfriend who never comes to races is coming, camping and then driving my car to knysna - all i have to offer in return is a toilet that looks like it came off the set of trainspotting #dogbox

Thanks Eddy, this was just the kind of important and honest feedback i was looking for!

You make a number of good points for the first timer! (must remember bog roll).

Bog roll, and a bucket, and your bike cleaning kit, that sand on the way to uniondale covers every square inch of the bike. You will want to clean it pre race. Also give it horns on the first 5km and first climb loads of traffic and if you get off on that hill due to traffic, you walk it.

Excellent, can I make an appointment for a full physical examination at about 7:00 on race day ?

I will gladly produce a stool sample if I may use the bath room........... :whistling:

I have been training with Energade past couple of weeks, should I look into using something like 32 GI for the race. Any other drink suggestions?

Energade, eish, but if it works for you, stick to it. Just don't make any last minute changes, as your body might not agree with it and you might then seriously need that toilet roll..

Stick to what you have been training with, if its energade then its energade, best is to take some solids along for the ride especially if your not super fit and will spend 5 or 6 hours on the bike. And dont forget the rennie's for cramps. I normally dont cramp but in last years 40degree heat those rennie's saved my life up kom se pad.

Thats actually a good point... So the route from Knysna is back to George, and then to Uniondale via the R62? No shortcuts on the R339?
