Sorry about your k@k start to the day.

I'm glad the fam is ok.

I know that feeling of being violated and it sux. As does ADT. Change to one of those serious companies like CSS, CAP etc if they are in your area.

The good news is your day can only get better.

The ADT guy got lost?

WTF!! and ADT get's away with this? If it was my company that guy would be on the streets scraping bird sh** to eat by now. Totally unacceptable, and the sad thing is, these days so many people and companies get away with murder in this country

Another thread showing how low our standards has become in this violent country of ours.

All the best dude.

sorry to hear about this!! but can i assume that you have passives in the house? if so, they got past an outside beam and the passives inside? if this is the case then ADT have some serious explaining to do!! most importantly ... you guys are all okay!

Glad the family is ok as many hubbers have stated lives are irreplaceable but possessions are.

seriously look into the reason the security system didnt work regular testing is normally promoted the security companies.

i would investigate an alternate company.

we have had the same sort of issues in my area as well.

As mentioned possessions can replaced, lives not. Still it really sucks when something like this happens, makes you feel vulnerable and violated. I has 2 break ins 2 years ago within a month of each other, after the 1st one i reinforced my windows, 2nd one i reinforced the garage door where they broke through and installed remote alarms inside the house, i use SWS Security who have been tops and touch wood, no more incidents since.

Real sorry bro.. I think ADT has proven that they aren't reliable. We've shifted from ADT to Trojan at home and we feel a lot safer.

I was with Trojan. They had a key to my property. I was burgled, electric fence clearly damaged and window clearly tampered with and they conveniently didn't bother to even call me to say the alarm had been triggered. I got home to find my house had been burgled. In the ensuing insurance claim it transpired that the alarm did go off but that the fence only activated after the house alarm, indicating that it only got triggered on the burglars way out. Trojan were pathetic through the whole thing and the boss (who lives/d up the road to me) was a total jerk about it, trying to convince my insurers' "loss adjustor" that I must've time-travelled (without passing through any of the access doors) from the 7th floor of the office in Braamfontein to home in Randburg to let the burglars in to my property, in the 5 minute break in a meeting I was involved in at the time of the alarm being triggered!

I will NEVER deal with Trojan again. They had to cheek to try charge me a cancellation fee on my contract even though I gave 1 month notice.

I apologise upfront if this post is not 100% clear, for I am angry for you, for I too had a problems with ADT.

Ive never been robbed, but I received a few false alarms. But I too have had issues with armed response guys not pitching up and being not at my premises in a quick enough time.

Screamed wont describe how I dealt with ADT. For as I repeatably told the guy(s), if I am away for work, and ADT, is slow to respond and something happens to my family, what is ADT going to say ... Sorry.

In this day in age, getting lost is not acceptable. If the guys are getting lost, then guys, either need to be familiar with the areas and streets they patrol, on the times that there is no response, or the guys must be given some type of sat nav device.

You dont see a pizza delivery driver getting lost do you.

To the OP. Please do yourself a favour, contact the sales rep (person that sold you the contract), and you get him to get the manager to contact you. Dont just accept this.

CAP together with a private smaller security group(which the residents club in for) that watches our streets in norwood. Cap patrolling in their bakkies & zozo huts in middle of each block, with the smaller companies guys on walkie talkies in conjunction with CAP.All this within a square 9 block radius ,has worked pretty well so far.Less car brake ins & suspect characters removed all the time.

Good that you are all ok

Ok guys, sorry for the hijack. Put yourself in the position where you have to go and protect some unknown dudes property and stand an excellent chance of getting shot at for R2500 / month. I would also arrive a bit late for that meeting. Yip, you are going to flame me, that is fine, but unfortunately the truth.

I install the odd alarm for clients, not my main job, but when business is quite I do. I work by myself and don't bring a lot of strangers into your house and I do the installation my way, but within the law. You choose your armed response.

It is still up to you to test your alarm every so often to ensure you and your property are safe.

I fired Chubb because of the same thing.
