Big corporates are unfortunately concerned rather with their corporate image than the livelihood of exceptional riders. With the Armstrong saga and now this hitting the SA scene there would be few corporates, who would in my opinion, remain in the cycling game with their image at risk through negative publicity. Rather they take, as Nedbank has done, a clear and strong stance against foul play regardless of whether the whole team is involved or not.

It is an extremely disappointing day for young potentials such a JR and existing potential KE or any other 360-Life future prospects (provided they are clean). SA cycling MTB in particular has such potential, yet we lack much financial support. Chasing away corporates who pump money into the sport and fund possible developments is the last thing this country needs at this stage. I wouldn't think DG had the financial leverage to bite the hand that feeds him.

This is very sad indeed, and I agree. I for one do not know who else is cheats out there.Luckily my day job at the moment is not cycling!

Bad timing!

Perhaps the cycling as a professional sport should be abolished. Too much money involved now.

oh crap man!

David Beckham earns more than the entire pro pelaton at the tour de france!!!!

I remembered how Hansie Cronje had to take the wrap for everyone involved.

Ya, and then blamed it on the devil. That's not really accepting responsibility for your own actions, is it?

GRAB YOUR TORCH AND PITCHFORKS!!!!

Public sensationalism has become an illness of your time...

David George's news not even 4hrs old (public) and 26pages on the hub, blaming all over the show.

This is just like the LA case, yes, Lance Armstrong's case.

The IDIOT Tyler Hamilton, sitting with his smug face, telling the story like it is his to tell, makes me want to puke.

He is a hypocrite, and just as guilty as LA.

But alas, all the other guilty parties a 6month ban, well, lets leave the rest at that!!!

We all are waiting around for someone else to stuff up, and make a hoo-haa out of it, while back at home most of the cynics and critics are people who cheat their wives, dope to be better that your club-mate, and just look for the opportunity to point at someone else!!!

Yes LA doped, well so did EVERYBODY else in the peleton. So that made him the fastest of all the cheats.

Yes, DG is caught doping, well, that leaves me to think how clean our beloved sport really is...

That is me on this topic, over and out!!!

David Beckham has been replaced as US football's highest earner after his salary was cut nearly 40% in a new contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy.

The former England captain has a base salary of $3m this year and guaranteed compensation of $4m, according to figures released Friday by the Major League Soccer players union.

Former Arsenal striker Thierry Henry now tops the MLS money charts, with a base salary $5m and total compensation of $5.6m.

Who is trying to ruin the reputation of pro cyclists?? The pro cyclists themselves or the people who are putting money into the sport?? And who puts the money into corporates such as Nedbank?? The clients & fun riders who support the events and idolize the top riders!!!

Reading his admission, I visualise the broad smile on his face at the Pioneer when he knew he had the 100k wrapped up. What a 2 face loser.

I love how anybody caught out takes the emotional approach, looking for sympathy.

I also remember Kevin Evans saying to Paul Valstar at the Trek, how this prize money would come in handy for his kids schooling. Wonder how Mr Evans is going to deal with Mr George on this one.

But I must also ask an obvious question. With Team 360 Life seemingly being thick as thieves, did Kevin not have any clue that something was going on? Did he not notice a spike in DG's riding at some point? Why take EPO if there is no visible improvement in your ability? At the top level even the smallest % increase would be noticeable. Just asking.

I tend to agree. My gut feel is that, at best, KE must have known that DG was doping. At best...

The sad thing is that Hansie was held accountable and the rest was swept under the carpet accept for a few retired players that was found guilty. I mean match fixing is still going on today (in my opinion) yet everyone just seem to look in the other direction..... Guys like Shane Warne and Mark Waugh was also implicated by caught out bookies yet we never heard from that again.

Cricket is probably just as vrot as cycling for all we know...... When Pakistan and co play in anycase......

In hindsight he should probably have "fallen ill" before Pioneer. I can imagine how KE and 360 life is fuming now over a DQ result.
