Nedbank - if you're reading this thread please don't pull sponsorship of the team. Plenty classy, CLEAN riders to pick from that are just begging for a professional contract. It would be a sad day to see one of the few professional teams in SA bail and it would no doubt set us back a few steps in our push to infiltrate the overseas circuit.

Considering his age it might just be a case that the amount of drugs needed to keep ahead of the up and coming no longer outweighs the risks and it's a case oh we'll, I had my run, it was good but thank you

Testing sub vets makes sense, often these people have serious money, as at that age you are generally in your earning prime, and cock measuring contests between 35's is also at their prime. It's all about checking results of the race on a Monday and mailing your mates to see who has bragging rights for the week.

After reading DG's statement again, I realized how arrogant it actually is, don't bother with the B I'm guilty, you suckers, throw the book at me, I've made my money. Sueing to get the money back is a long and costly affair, he'll get banned and that's it, the selfishness of his actions astound me, he must have a very thick skin.

Thats prob true but if I were the sponsors of the events that he received prize money for I would be throwing my toys. You hit the nail on the head "arrogant" is exactly what it is.

vets and sub-vets ?

Definatly the first place to start.

Yip. I've ridden with the sub-vets a few times and have spoken to quite a few guys in the sub-vets group regarding this.

There is a lot of doping going on in this group.

I think all professional athletes at the top of the international ladder dope in some form or another, they are always just a few steps ahead of he testers

Well put.

Mike also made a very valid point regarding the competitiveness in some.

it normally starts small, most clubs now have a "race" team and these guys are separate form other club members in that they normally have different kit ,or even the words race team in red at the bottom of the pockets.

People drop friends by the wayside just to become part of this little elitist group.

From there the pressure mounts, the ego expands and things go pear shaped.

**NB**

Before anyone accuses me of naming and shaming, I am not referring to any one club in particular.

As a species we are not getting bigger or more muscular are we, but we continue to smash held records constantly, does he training methods change so dramatically every 4 years? No, but chemistry breakthroughs do

What are the protocols ? Would he have been informed before this was made public ?

Sounds to me like he was forwarned and must have told a few important people of things to come. I wonder if there are a few friends of his wondering if their samples will test positive.

I call it the "Jack Russel Syndrome" as just like that little dog knows no limits and will run its own heart till a burst state some people feel that hey just have to be on he podium at any costs whereas he majority are contempt to say I completed it.......

The majority are clean, the consistent medal winners, not so much

What do you mean ?

Is it normal for someone to be shivering on a 30 degree day in the blazing sun with goose-flesh ?

It's a common sign that most who know about it first look for.

I'm asking why one gets goose-flesh with EPO? Seems a strange thing to happen - just wondering.

Reason why i have stoped racing. One guy comment one day to me about the vet's at the start and said how do you make a Donkey looking at some guy into a thoroughbreed " You Dope him"

It's scary reading here about the prevalence among sub vets and other fun riders. Can we just hope that the kids of this world are clean? I would prefer that they channelled most of the resources to ensure it's impossible for age group kids to dope.

We almost need a 'eat natural' brand ambassador team to serve as an example for kids. If I wasn't so damn slow I would have done it myself.

Greg Minnaar - on twitter

I don't even know why I'm disappointed in David George's positive test, it was only a matter of time.... You can only dodge so many bullets

If all the pro's knew, surely Kev must have as well? Which is more disturbing: he did know or he didn't...
