Totally true, but my previous week was only 194TSS due to stupid cold. But we stick to the plan, hopefully around the 650TSS mark this week

Yeah

I take it easier when the system is down with a snotkop

With power data, it's so much easier to be accurate with pedal force when I wanna stay below, say, 180 watts avg, to not strain the engine too much.

STERKTE this week

Thanks Dale!

Very true, this morning I could notice I was pushing lower watts at typical HRs after my Groenkloof session on Sunday so kept my power in Z3 for the hour, felt like a solid 'threshold' ride, without straining the engine.

On that, guys at Spez mentioned yonks ago Burry used to do a "on bike form test" before he did hard intervals, I think testing 'decoupling' compared to a standard, anyone aware of how such a test would go?

I saw a video where Burry would be on the IDT checking his numbers to determine whether he should do intervals or not - brilliant

Working with Jeroen Swart I think at the time

Maybe pop him a note as he has a presence here - The Doc I think?

Just curious, I dont have a power meter and dont really know how this work. So you did 5W/kg for 5min? I remember reading the secret race Tyler said the magic number was something like 6 or 7w/kg but for what time was that. Certainly not the duration of the race?

I think that would be for a 20-30min effort on a climb.

In tylers day, 7w for 5min was what was needed to climb on the front up d huez

I'd like to think it's dropped a little with epo no longer in the picture

6w/kg for 5 mins is ******* hard. If you're consistently pulling 6w/5mins then you'll be winning local races

For the alpe d' huez it would be in the region of about 30minutes...remember also that you already has over a 100km in your legs when hitting the climb. Insane numbers...

I did 3x10min working on my threshold this morning and ended up with 93 TSS. Would that be working sufficiently hard enough to stress the body for improvement?

I was thinking during that session it might be a good idea to go back to working with a coach. Let him worry about the numbers so I can focus on work (which pays for the coach and bikes anyway).

I can see work interfering with the cycling quite alot so it's important I make every available minute count.

I would think your ftp is a little low

100tss = 1hr @ ftp

If you get 93 for 30 mins then you need to retest ftp

Depends on what your target fitness level is - From what I've seen at 60 CTL you need above 450TSS a week to increasing you fitness levels, at 80 CTL that increases to above 600TSS a week.

Hi,

I did a session of 90 minutes in total. Including RBI, warm-up and warm down.
