Just curious, I dont have a power meter and dont really know how this work. So you did 5W/kg for 5min? I remember reading the secret race Tyler said the magic number was something like 6 or 7w/kg but for what time was that. Certainly not the duration of the race?

For the alpe d' huez it would be in the region of about 30minutes...remember also that you already has over a 100km in your legs when hitting the climb. Insane numbers...

I did 3x10min working on my threshold this morning and ended up with 93 TSS. Would that be working sufficiently hard enough to stress the body for improvement?

I was thinking during that session it might be a good idea to go back to working with a coach. Let him worry about the numbers so I can focus on work (which pays for the coach and bikes anyway).

I can see work interfering with the cycling quite alot so it's important I make every available minute count.

I would think your ftp is a little low

100tss = 1hr @ ftp

If you get 93 for 30 mins then you need to retest ftp

Depends on what your target fitness level is - From what I've seen at 60 CTL you need above 450TSS a week to increasing you fitness levels, at 80 CTL that increases to above 600TSS a week.

Hi,

I did a session of 90 minutes in total. Including RBI, warm-up and warm down.

Also consider rolling at 87-93 percent of FTP to raise fitness

Sweet spot

Definitely enough stress, at threshold intervals should range 8 - 15/20 min to have any adaptions to muscle.

Last night could only ride 8min at FTP for 3sets, finished workout with 63TSS in 54min, very little.

I get about the same score (90-95) on a 3x10 Threshhold session in an hour and a bit. About 120 for a multi Interval 1h30 session. So looks about right. Current block has me on about 900-950 per week.

Ouch! Enjoy!

Glad to see I'm doing better than the "average" cyclist at 300TSS per week.

I was talking to someone who rode the TDF route 2 years ago and he was talking about 400 TSS a day.

EINA!!

Sounds like your levels are not set properly...

1 hour at threshold = 100 tss points

30min = 50 points giving you 40 points from your warm up an cool down all in a hour and a bit......

So your FTP may be 300w but you have it set at 280w, then you actually ride at 300w for the 3x10min intervals, thus accumulating way more points than you actually are earning...

900 to 950 per week is a lot, how many hours riding is that?
