Hopefully going to testride the Lynskey on the weekend. Both the Skookum Ti and the Kona are Lynskey built, so then it (should) be just a brand choice. Pipedream have frames available in my size.

Going to have a long, hard think about this......

I really have lots of sympathy for you being in this horrid situation.

There is rather simple though.

Keep the bike in steel and keep it real, by the pipe dream (in a size medium and in the bright green) and ride her while you get a custom built frame made ..... There is that SA guy in the UK at the moment building up good looking steel frames.

You would them get a frame that really is yours.

When the frame arrives, you sell the pipe dream at a hugely reduced price and move on with life.

I am sure I might have a buyer for the pipe dream if the price is right....

hehehe, so you lost control, need to find out who got control and take him for a beer,

nice build.

PS: I never had control of my build, just handed the wallet over to the little devil on my shoulder and said have fun.

So, after this little incident took place:

I was fortunate enough to have the insurance pay out for my loss.

Cool, I thought, I can build myself a decent SS. Reynolds 853 frame, XT brakes, reasonable wheels.

If I look at what arrived in the post today, I seem to have lost sight of my goal somewhat.cursing.gif eek.gif oops.gif oops.gif oops.gif oops.gif oops.gif

Don't despair, it is all under control, you have enough help and guidance with your purchase choices and assistance when building (I will supply beer in bottles matching the color of the Hope logo).

Oh, and there's a spare room at my house for when your wife kicks you out...

I already have a steel, rigid SS and am looking for something to complement it. The Ti Pipedream is very compelling.......

Question? Seeing that this is a build thread, what rigid fork do you suggest I go with?

I had considered the Niner RDO, but the cost is making me gag.

Other options, the new Ritchey Carbon?

On One also make a nice Carbon fork in the following options

http://on-one.co.uk/i/q/FOOOCAR29RACE/on_one_carbon_29er_race_fork

and then a Chromo fork if you feel the need ....

CWC also have this one, but no idea RE the ride, etc.

OK - so you have not really lost control, just moved the goalposts... :)

I need some new grease for a hub rebuild - decided I should do it with a good grease - Krytox.

But I don't think a 7g tube will be enough... so maybe I should get a tub should be enough to do a few bearings...

Thank someone they will not ship to SA....
