Hey guys. Wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with yishunbike. http://www.yishunbike.com/ looking at ordering some mtb wheels from them. 30mm wide hookless with straight pull spokes. Apparently fine for 120kg riders, but wanted to know if anyone has a personal review to share.

The rims look exactly the same as the ones being tested by a local frame manufacture. I will get a second opinion and let you know.

If they are the same then you won't have any problems and they are crazy strong and stiff, just not light.

Awesome thanks. I'm 105kgs so not too worried about weight, more worried about strength. And they still come in at about 1.5kgs for the set.

Any experience with chosen hubs?

I'm pretty much choosing between wide lightnings, ztr arch ex, or chinese carbon. These are the only cc ones looking strong enough.

Anyone imported a groupset from Merlin cycles for your build? What import duties we looking at on a groupset?

Bought some items from them and arrived within 2 weeks. No import duties just vat. They have the best prices for group sets.

Wide lightenings maximum recommended weight is 90-100kg.  Arch Flow ex are wide and strong. Go at least 30mm wide. Much better.

I thought the wide lightnings were 107kgs tbh. Good to know :)

Arch seems to be the go to rim for heavy xc riders... was hoping for a lighter bling alternative.

Light-Bicycle

I've ordered from them a number of times with no hassles or complaints.  Our household owns three MTB wheelsets built on their hoops.  Light and strong.  Couldn't be happier.

These beadless rims could work for you at 420g (+/- 15g) for 35mm wide and rider weight limit of 130kg: http://www.light-bicycle.com/35mm-wide-29er-rims-beadless-for-bicycle-trail-or-mountain-bike-enduro-with-tubeless-compatibility.html#.VDZOZBazzkY

EDIT: They have other rim options too (width/weight/bead) and also offer wheelsets.

Contacted them about their 27mm rims which are 120kg rated but they didn't seem too helpful... unfortunately also don't have a straight pull hub apparently (bling factor) although they do have a hope hub option.

Did you buy wheelsets or rims from them and have them built here?

Hey Madbradd :)  That is strange, because I got very good service from them for both transactions.  Dealt with Nancy Yu and Brian Xia.  We bought the 30mm wide 29er rims (390g +/-10 with 120kg limit) and had them built up locally.  The wheelbuilder (very well-known guy) was super impressed with the quality of the rims.  I have to agree with Trackmonster - go for at least 30mm width.  You'll get a much better tyre profile on the wider rims.

I've also ordered from Nextie Bikes and have to say that they have the best and friendliest service I have yet encountered.  Purchaced beadless 27mm width 29er rims (both weigh 360g, weight limit of 150kg) from them and they even painted them free of charge! (Fluorescent green :w00t: ) They also offer many other widths including 30 and 35mm.

EDIT: Oops, forgot the link http://www.nextie-bike.com

There are many reviews of IPLAY mtb wheels on MTBR.com, many options.

But the limited rider weight is not so sure 100%, mostly is 100kg.

EMS is great until the item arrives in South Africa then the SA Post Office take over and it becomes messy.
