Be interesting to see who this guy is, from the type of accident and the location of the skid marks it looks like alcohol or something was involved

Apologising after deleting your posts (so nobody can see the "sweeping generalisations you made about english speaking hubbers) and engaging in threatening banter is worthless. You're a hypocrite, and the biggest troll on this forum. You can change your name ad-nauseum, but never your nature. Watch the glass door ECCENTRIC, it's closed!

The quote you refer to was made in jest, those who choose to take offence should lighten up.

JEST??!! Imagine losing your son/daughter/wife in this circumstance? Can't believe you are telling people to lighten up.. WTF?

Dude, go joke somewhere else.

He ran for some reason! Let's hope fleeing the scene/hit and run bears more punishment than being found intoxicated!

Ok "dude", let's get a few things straight:

1. I'm NOT telling "people" in general to lighten up

2. I'm referring those who choose to take offence at an innocuous comment about "bakkies and brannas"

3. I'm certainly NOT in any way, shape, form or manner attempting to undermine the gravity of the thread or seriousness of a loss of life. Your pious suggestion that I am is disingenuous and mischievous.

I don't know you, I've never spoken to you. Read the post in context with the preceding and follow-up comments, plus a few of my other forum posts before you fly off the handle and "WTF" me. Your sanctimonious indignation is ill-directed.

You choose to lambaste a few when the sentiment is shared by several. Why don't you just remove the post?

It's there, and I've explained it. If you prefer to bang on about it, be my guest.

From what I have heard there was footage obtained from the Eskom substation that captured the entire accident. Undoubtedly the GoPro footage assisted as well. I would like to put a call out at this early stage that, once a court date has been established, we organise a massive number of cyclists to be at the court on the day of this man's appearance. He should be 100% aware of the way the cycling community feels about what he did and how he acted. Even if it is just a silent protest - let's show that we have had enough of this behaviour ! :cursing:

The problem here is if the driver were under the influence of either alcohol or drugs he made sure that all that is totally out of his blood.

Then he also used the time to make up a story about the incident.

Also as the article state that it is a 53 year old driver it might even be to protect his under age child who were the actual drive.

Keep us posted. I will be there.

Here's the article from Die Burger from this morning, which puts a slightly different spin on the "good policework" theory:

Man gee hom oor in Roux-saak RAYMOND WILLEMSE

STELLENBOSCH.

Lt.kol.

Still trying to imagine what kind of sub-human you have to be to do something like this and drive away?? It's of little concern that he has handed himself in, now that he has been tracked down and was likely to be arrested anyway.

More sad that the police needed a second effort at the persistence of a concerned family friend, instead of a proper examination on their first visit....

Interesting approach to knock SAPS so early on. Perhaps she knows on some level that the docket will disappear or that SAPS will fark up the investigation along the line, so why not call it like it is.

Eish... Friends of the deceased gathering evidence on the scene after the police left and found nothing???

If that Burger article is even half true(its Media24 so hopefully its not), that guy doesn't even need a good lawyer to get off on a technicality...

Just heard that the man will be charged in the Kuilsriver court tomorrow. That will determine the provisional court date, so that is what we need to be on the lookout for if we want to make an appearance !

We should create awareness around how the case is handled.. if we watch every step we might see the negligence coming??

Out of all the cyclists man downed over the last lets say year.... Has there come anything from the courts which we can call constructive? Honest question I can't recall any they just seem to fade into the back ground
