Geo and fit is everything as far as I'm concerned. There are even stats and research (using roadbikes!) that show fit is more beneficial than weight. That said, here is my pride and joy Mercer, Fluffer (gangly gibbon). The perfect do it all bike made in, and for Cape Town riding(it even has 2 water bottle mounts in the front triangle for stage races!).29r wheels(and still the most fun bike I've ever owned!), 150mm front, 120mm back travel. 66 and a bit degree HA, 74 degree SA, 430mm CS, and 475mm reach. South Industry wheels that have survived the most ridiculous rock gardens I can find, Lyne components that are pleasingly affordable and damn nice, and DVO suspension front and rear that I am mighty impressed with.Enduro weight is around 15kg with all tools in the frame (a few handy places to store all sorts). Carbon Cranks on the way which will shave about 400g off.

I picked up that bike at the first EWC round. I would not have said it was 15kg - felt way lighter than that.

I think some decent light wheels would help a lot on my bike. Carbon cranks not so much - given my riding style which involves hitting rocks with cranks periodically.

Yeah, it wweighs about 14kg at EWC races. EzelEnduro spec means bigger tyres and more tools in the bike and more weight ;)

And the cranks aren't horizontal. And let's not even mention the electrical tape on the chainstay. And what's with the black cable ties????

MY EYES!!!

I've never understood you OCD types-a bike is a tool for riding. That extra effort to get cranks level and everything matched up just takes up potential riding time. Next time you say you don't have enough time to go ride your bike, think about all those moments you were levelling your cranks for a photo ;p

(And all these 'rules' makes it even easier to irritate you guys!)

I'm surprised you didn't mention that the tyre decals aren't lined up with the South Logos. Even I had to fix that after the photo :/

a pretty bike doesn't make you a better rider, after all....

The gibbon looked like she had fun this weekend, though!

Simple question, how does other people’s OCD effect you and what you do?

A nice ol' story:

Once upon a time, on a nice sunny day while I was smashing the Delta Park tree-line:

Sun in my face, overly-committed trail dog in tow, and a beautifully kitted out enduro hardtail between my legs. Essentially enduro nirvana.

Until..

Mid berm rail slash sick manual I passed two walkers-by.

Did they comment on my sheer happiness? Blurt out their utter envy? Give me a mid-ride high five?

No.

All I hear is, "Dude, what's up with that oke's socks".. fade into the distance.

Guess my socks weren't enduro enough.

Moral of the story? I have no idea.

couple of readers on PB or VMTB mentioned the same thing. they can't wait for the modern incarnation, 'especially for smaller riders"....
