Awesome gutter riding today! That's tougher than a mountain stage. Saxo were fantastic when they split the field with 30 k's to go. Had 6 riders in front group of 14. Race on !!

You can count on Ten Dam to fight till the end. He is a tough customer.

Here is a photo of him in the 2011 tour:

So far no one has come up with a formula to beat Sky or Froome however stage 9 (also coincidently on a Sunday) has shown how it could be achieved...by attacking Sky early in the stage and not leaving it until the last climb.

Teamwork between the various teams (Spanish speaking ones plus a one or 2 others like Garmin Omega Pharma) might well be required.

:whistling: I told u so.... I told u so....just got the stage wrong

Major test coming up for Sky and Froome, did Saxo burn their matches??

Time will tell

I don't know if this has been discussed yet, but does anyone else think that Cavendish has lost his edge?

I mean, he left Sky last year in a big huff because their green jersey aspirations didn't match his, so here he is with a whole team dedicated to him and he doesn't seem to be doing any better.

Are the other just better? Or has the whole team and lead-out not reached full potential yet?

Your thoughts?

Perhaps I spoke too soon?

Just wondering if our man Chris maybe shouldn't have taken or at least kept the yellow so early in the race ...

Make hay whilst the sun shine! Sure its a burden but to get ahead whilst you can is there thinking (I think)

But the question ... Did Saxo give too much today? Hope they left enough gas in the tank for tomorrow and Sunday.

Sure was great seeing Berto turning on the gas!

Yah, hope so, but Berto is an old tour campaigner, he has seen it all before so I dont think he will make that mistake, today is a stage for the breakaway, so my guess is you wont see 'Berto or Saxo the whole day, unless he sees a chance for more time they will have an active rest day.

Well, you know I am an unashamed 'Berto fan, I think the guy is pure class, never complains, never down, never rude, always upbeat and positive and just gets on with doing his best and making every race he enters exciting.

My cynical mind says Valverde and 'Berto will form an alliance, Valverde has nothing left to ride for except a stage win in the mountains, 'Berto and Saxo will help, Stage to Valverde, Time to 'Berto, - its a win / win for both teams and riders and 'Berto has helped many other riders to stage wins before, if Valverde doesn't help for a stage win, he may as well go home now and recover for the Vuelta, athletes of his caliber dont ride for 25th spot.

Yah, I said so last week already, LA was a master at winning the tour, irrespective of his past, his formula was flawless and he never took the jersey so early, if he did get it by default, he dumped it as soon as possible, Chris was in the unenviable situation of having to defend the jersey as he had such a big lead, to give it away would have been crazy, but its taken its toll, no doubt.
