Price estimations? XX is about R16k (not sure about that) while XX1 is about R11 500 right?

So X01 at about R9500?

EDIT: On second thoughts, with the exchange rate, XX1 is going to go for around R12.5k I think, with X01 going for around R11k, if the rumour of between $1000 and $1200 is correct.

X01 spy shot:

That just looks like a double crank with a single ring bolted to it... hope the spider gets a bit work to look better.

And why the need for the guide? I can understand the one on the chain stay to stop some chain slap (although a Type 2 RD should help this), but why the XC style guide over the chain ring?

It is on a Scott Genius, Brendan Fairclough's. He will use it for Enduro racing. The way he rides, and the big whips he pulls off warrant a chain guide of some sort.

Understood.

The crank still looks budget though. Looks like they've just done what most of us do on our 1x10 conversions.

"SRAM are keen to point out that X01 is very much on a par with XT – this is the price point they’re aiming at for its release later this year. Cost savings are mostly concentrated on the cranks, which are alloy as opposed to carbon, the extensive and expensive cassette-building process remaining the same save for a slightly cheaper hard-anodised finish. There are slight changes to the materials used in the shifters, and the chain is the same as the one from the XX1 groupset."

So.... gears are getting LESS.... but more expensive.....?? and we support this? This is like a can of coke going from 330ml to 275ml and triple the price but we all run out and buy it...?? WHY???

Just for the "cool" factor? To have the "bling" (or lack there of) to be better than our mates and everyone else...?

and then we all wanna cry about prices- but we do it to ourselves..........if nobody bought these parts at these prices....

But bla bla bla... i'm wasting my breath... aren't I ??
