So I am buying one of two bikes tomorrow. The thing is I am still completly undecided. Would love to hear your opinions..

specs for both bikes are basically the same (comes down to hardtail or softtail, weight and price)

what sort of riding do you do?

but what does the heart say? Which one tickles your fancy the most?

Mostly marathon

There must be quite a weight and cost difference between the two

Its about an R8000 cost difference and a 1,76kg weight difference.

The hardtail tickles my wallet and the softail tickles my "ass"

forget the wallet: it can lie beyond belief :P

your typical riding suggests a hardtail is the logical choice. Your wallet will be deliriously happy :P

But if you are branching out into single track and increasing your technical riding, a dual susser will come in handy. but nothing you can't master on an HT either.

I have been on a full suss 26er for a couple of years now and have this strange desire to move to the hardtail. I love tough technical routes but feel a little lazy on my softail.

Guese I want the fastest bike..

Oh yes doing the baviaans later this year..

There is your answer. The problem is you have to spend alot of money to get a dualsusser to weigh the same as an average hardtail. If you are not going to do alot of technical stuff, it means that you are carrying 1.76 kgs extra around in case you need rear suspension.
