oi! lets keep the CSA discussion out of this here positive thread !!

Hey Slow.

I disagree.

Lets see the great and the terrible in one place.

I really want to know why CSA has no money. Disgusting that this woman has to privately fund herself when she has this much potential.

Also interesting that none of the "big companies" that make a lot of money off of hubbers all of a sudden couldn't find there wallets when it was necessary.

I find it really interesting that the vast majority of cyclists I know hate the CSA.

The CSA is around to make life better for cyclists of all levels no? Yet they are hated almost unanimously.

Are they blind? Stupid? Ignorant? Really don't give a bumgel about cyclists? Are that so internally focused that they don't know that they're hated?

Bizarre.

Coming late here, but can I please see the correspondence from PPA regarding your initial request for funding and the exact response you got?

"She has approached both CSA and PPA for funding, but was told that even though she has the talent and qualifies for funding, they do not have the money to help her (YEAH, RIGHT!!!!)"

This is what I read in the opening post. I am on the PPA Executive and would like to see what went down. - when you get the answer , let us know. but open another thread we don't want to poisen this one

By the way, CSA has got zero money, that I can assure you of. i think i have the answer but see above , it warrants a new thread

Think it's more in the they don't care, and caring or not does not impact their salaries.

As long as they act as a unified unit, no one can argue and they keep their positions and authority.

Visited Fire this morning ( oh yeah, for best prices on Race Nutrition, contact her @ Body & Bike. 32Gi selling at way below what other retailers charge. Other brands also at really good prices)

She is really upbeat about her experience and what it means for her for the future. She learned a lot and knows what/where to improve, and also how.

She is really thankfull for the opportunity afforded her by the Hubbers.

Looks like there is movement also from CSA side. Not much promised, but is better than nothing

Fire selected for World Cup Squad:

16 Sep 2013

In line with Cycling South Africa’s Track Cycling strategy towards the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as their 2016/2020 Olympic vision, mission and strategy, the Track Selectors have selected the following athletes as part of their National Track Squad to compete in the first leg of the UCI Track World Cup in Manchester, Great Britain, from 1-3 November 2013.

Men’s Track Sprint

Bernard Esterhuizen

Jeanné Nell

Jean Smith

Kyle Borchjes

Men’s Track Endurance

Nolan Hoffman

Kellan Gouveris

Evan Carstens

Theuns van der Bank

Marco Abrahams

Brandon Christians

Women’s Track Endurance

Maroejska Matthee

As a number of cyclists were out of the country or were unable to attend this past weekend’s track cycling Grand Prix and Interprovincial that was hosted in Cape Town, the final selection will be made during a week-long Track Training Camp commencing Monday 14 October to Sunday 20 October 2013. Thereafter, the team will depart for a further ten-day training camp in Newport, South Wales.

Any cyclist whom would like to be considered as part of the final team selection that will compete in Manchester will need to be present at the October training camp, and must be capable of posting faster times than those cyclists nominated in the above squad, be in possession of a current passport and have a British Visa allowing for departure on Sunday, 10 October. (Terms and conditions apply).

Thanks Wannabe. :)

Just want to say thanks to the hubbers again for making it possible to go to America and getting the UCI points to qualify for the world cup.

CSA has selected a team to represent South Africa. I'm the only lady in the team and because I can't do team events with fellow saffas I had to qualify to ride the races. With South Africa getting an entry, the guys can ride the Team Pursuit and Team Sprint. The riders that qualified for individual events is myself, Nolan Hoffman and Bernard Esterhuizen.

I can't thank you guys enough!

I still have R3,500 left over from what you guys gave me for America and would go towards this World Cup trip.

I want to invite the guys that are in Cape Town on the 11th of October to come watch some track racing.

In my attempt to get the funds I will be selling jaffels and pancakes. and doing handstands and juggling with my feet. Please come support.

You would be entertained with some hot racing through the night.
