Very enjoyable

Watchable but if it isn't for the sheer arrogance of the dilettante billionaire the story will grow stale and thin very quickly. Good bubblegum though

Other stuff

Training Day

Outsiders season 2

Beyond (watched all 8 episodes)

Ransom (also a bit bubblegum-ish)

Blacklist

Suits - growing a bit stale now, might get abandoned

SIX !!! enjoying this

Lethal Weapon - mostly harmless fun

Legion

Rosewood - medical (pathologist) drama stuff

Taboo

The Expanse season 2 - enjoyed season 1 more

Billions - yay it is back!

Riverdale is ok, but not really the Archie comics

Lucifer - the only question remaining: will they actually get it on so the series can die?

Powerless is a disappointment

Timeless fails compared to Continuum

Imposters is not "grabbing" me

Gotham drifted off my radar during season 1 already

I stil wanna watch Training Day, Black Sails etc. But the wife wants to watch Impractical Jokers and Cutthroat Kitchen. So much to watch in so little time

Legion

Superb Pilot. I really could not fault it. I tried. Stevens pulls off the character beautifully.

Fox really pulled out the stops on this one with regards to production too.

Its going to be hard to carry this kind of momentum. I did not expect them to go in this direction. But so glad they did.

When I first heard about the possibility of a Legion series. The first thing that came to mind was the story he is infamous for in the comics. The Age of Apocalypse. Possibly the most renown X-men story ever told. Then I thought. Too many important heroes you can't leave out including many of the X-men. That and time travel means CGI will need a massive budget. A film would make far more sense. Fox is actively trying to expand on their character rights within Marvels universe. Why are they doing this? Whats the angle? Surely a series will flop?

Then I watched the pilot. Doesn't seem to be an origin story either. Looks like its set back in the day. So maybe Muir Island? But no Moira McTaggert? Besides she was already cast as a CIA agent in the X-men movies instead of a doctor. F's going on here?

For those who don't know who Legion is. Even Especially if you watched the pilot.

Here's a quick run-down...

David Haller (Legion) is the son of Charles Xavier (Professor X) and Gabrielle Haller.

In the Marvel, or more accurately, the X-men universe.

He is classified as a class 5/Omega mutant. Which is just jargon for very, very powerful.

It basically means he is a threat to an entire plain of existence. Let alone a planet or civilization. His character is inspired by the gospels of Luke and Mark where the story of a man possessed by demons is encountered somewhere and asked what his name was.

He responds by saying. 'We are Legion. For we are Many'

As you guessed from watching the pilot. Legion (or David), is a schizophrenic mental patient being treated in an asylum. The truth is David is not schizo at all. Its his power. He is able to absorb the psyche of anyone around him. Before he learns to control his power. David inadvertently (over the years) absorbs thousands of people. Not only does he absorb their personalities, their memories, their talents, knowledge, secrets, strengths and weaknesses. But in a world of mutants, heroes, villains, and a plethora of intergalactic beings. He also absorbs their power. Try an imagine how dangerous this makes him.

Magneto is classified as an omega mutant because of his vast ability to control magnetic fields and moving metal on an infinite scale. It means he could drive the earth into the sun if he wanted to. So what does that make Legion if Magneto is just another psyche among so many others he could just absorb. To make matters worse. As legion absorbs more and more people they fight for control of his body and power. You never really know who you're talking to. Who will be in control next or what they would do. As David's mind becomes saturated with personalities and power. Something else happens. Legion starts manifesting these various psyches as beings in the real world. Tangible representations of these various personalities imagined out of thin air into being. Most of them dangerous.

It looks like the show's premise puts David in a place and time where mutants or super powers for that matter is not prevalent. Its certainly not a world where the general public is aware of their existence. At least not yet. But these doctors in the hospital know what David is capable of. At least for now, they are only just scratching the surface. David is also clueless as to whats going. Whats more is his acknowledgement of his 'schizophrenic' condition. Means he thinks he is sick. But what he thinks are hallucinations are actually lapses from another time and place. He tries to differentiate between what is real and what he imagines but the truth is he will soon realize that its ALL real.

The second episode airs tomorrow...

....snip...

i fell asleep watching that pilot last night. Will have to watch the rest of it when less tired. But i found it mildly interesting at best. Hopefully it lights up as it goes along. Your highly enthusiastic writeup makes me think Legion is the Sylar of the marvelverse. Hopefully legion doesn't become the heap of stink Heroes became.

I suppose he kind of is. Except. David's own personality is more in line with that of a hero.

However his mind/s which are forever in turmoil. Often results in his actions being synonymous with that of a villain or anti-hero. That's what makes him such an interesting character.

Like I said. Its hard to keep that sort of momentum going after the pilot. But something tells me this won't be a super powered heroes vs villains pg13 adventure. It strikes me as more of a sci-fi drama slash psychological thriller intended for a mature audience.

One gripping season should be the end game here instead of being milked and dragged out the way heroes was. Which was why the show became so stale. If its really good they can expand on it and create their own little integrated series universe the same way the MCU did with Netflix. 4 or 5 different series with overlapping characters portrayed by the same cast throughout. There is certainly no shortage of Marvel characters within the X-men universe to choose from.

Heroes dragged out for too long.

Watching Highway thru hell on Netflix.  I thought that working in Canada was an option, but that is no longer the case if I see the carnage on one stretch of road.

Also started with the OA.  The first episode was okayish, but the second one lost me and my wife along the way.

Anybody watching ''Mary kills People" Saw a preview on Kodi. Looks pretty good. Will give it a go today.

Tried 24:Legacy. Couldnt make it through 2nd episode. Not the same, not worth watching
