Now we’ve got to a point where our race is certainly one of the most aspirant events around the world and it’s very desirable and it’s allowed us to increase the entry fee. I think in the last four years now it’s over 200% that we’ve racked up the entry fee.

 

This race was on my bucket list since I took up cycling. But that dream has certainly been priced out of the list along with the holiday home in the Caribbean.

 

However, I cant begrudge the organisers the success they have had by building such an amazing brand. Its awesome what they achieved. I also would have increased the fees by that much if I were them.

Money aside, riders still need to endure blood, sweat and tears through the prologue and 8 grueling stages to achieve those bragging rights. I say good luck to them.

there are people earning as much as 40 million a year, just google "directors remuneration" and the jse listed company, You will be shocked to see how many SA people earn millions more than us plebs. R46k is nothing to them

 

If I was Kevin I would increase the cost by 20% every year until it takes 2 days to sell out
