Hi Carinus.

Jy was regtig uitstekend vanaand.

Sorry man, ek is bietjie stadig vandag.

Isn't it strange how different people have different perceptions of what they have seen. Here's my take on Mr Lemmers appearance.

He ducked and dived around the question of what the license fees are going to be used for, and what the man in the street will see for his money.. Effectively he said that the fees will be used to pay for the administration of the fees.

He was wearing a T-Shirt with the slogan 'Blacks like me'. Perhaps this is appropriate for a school child at a party, but not for the CEO of CSA. It's ironic that later in the program they were bemoaning the fact that the Tour of SA was cancelled because of lack of sponsorship. Would you entrust a million bucks to a man who can't make the effort to dress properly on National TV?

Perceptions are so important, and I have no doubt that CL is a splendid fellow, but IMHO he needs to clean up his act if he is to attract corporate bucks. This just wasn't good enough.

It is a pity that people still judge individuals on their appearance.

BTW Carinus is the COO of CSA.

I have come to know Carinus as a genuine person with a strong character and beliefs. And most importantly:a passion for cycling.

Cannot be said for a lot of other characters in cycling who's main interest is their ego's and self importance.

Hope Carinus goes to serve cycling for a long time.

As I said in my post, I am sure he is a great guy, and I have no doubt that as you say he is a strong character.

My point, is that he is the COO (thanks for the correction) of a major sporting body that deals with millions of rands of yours and my money. We as share holders in CSA rely on him to grow the business/sport to all of our benefits. He should dress and act the part. Quirks and eccentricities do not sit well with people who write multi million rand cheques.

I thought Richard Brandson was quirky and eccentric. He does not have any problems with cheques.

I thought he was still "pissed" from the party the night before during an interview on 702.

I might be incorrect, but as I read the articles of the last week: it was the Tour of SA organizers that could not get sponsorship (And they was represented by a well spoken and clothed person on SuperCycling a couple of months back)<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I might also be incorrect in assuming COO has something to do with ?Operating? / ?doing stuff? & not how good PR ?spinner? you are.

Pardon the pun, but on the ?Show me the money? side of things, Carinus get my vote. (But to negative that with a black t-shirt??? Confused)

But, on the actual topic of the tread: Not a good answer at all (nothing?) ? I?m 100% for something like a public CSA business case on the licenses that I could not find on http://www.cyclingsa.com/ tonight ? then Latrinus can just read that next time maybe? Big%20smile

He doesnt need to do anything to attract corporate bucks, all our license fees should be enough to float an event such as the Tour SA.

I agree on the dress issue, you dont have to use the opportunity of being on TV to make a social / political statement. He was representing CSA not his own beliefs

Please help me here, as I am still confused.

What is the difference between a Cyclosport and a Recreational licence.  As I see it, there is no difference.  You can enter any race with both and you can get seeding with both.  It's just the price tag that differs

Guys....next you'll be howling for a barber to tackle his dreads. I've got to say that I personally place no emphasis on his appearance...it's what he can do for cycling and I think it would be wrong to judge this "splendid fellow" by his cover! smiley36.gif

I really don't care about his dress sense!  But I still want to know what happens to my licensing money?  What do I, the avg cyclist, get, except the seeding ladder (which is NOT a huge IT development)

Recreational Lic - Not an "official lic that you have to go and apply at CSA, this is for you funriders that just wanna ride for fun

Cyclosport Lic - Serious Cyclists that wanna do some more intense racing in the lic groups, meaning VETS, SV ,etc. Cannot race Prov and SA champs with this lic.

Elite/Full Lic - everything in the Cyclosport lic PLUS you can race SA and Provincial Champs.

Sooooo if you wanna race VETS cat and SA/Prov Champs get an Full lic, if you wanna race just VETS etc. then get Cyclosport
