Question Wayne:

Can you download the climb data from those strava links given by JCZA and Hillel onto that fancy IDt you bought awhile ago?

Or do you have to get them to send you the files?

Did the tour of legends last year, don't worry about finding a hill like that. There isn't one anywhere in the civilized world ! Anyway, you will be walking it so if you are really serious about trying it out, push your bike up 20 flights of stairs in the Carlton Centre.....

Net so

Nice

I was looking online at strava segments for climbs in my area and could not find one close to your requirements (18% for 3.5 km) and then wondered if you have to be a registered strava user to be able to access the data required to produce the ride on your IDT.

I'm not registered with strava and can only see basic profiles and was wondering if registered members could access the files from any strava ride anywhere in the world without permission of the person who did the ride?

Wonder if those clever Tacx trainers can use Polar files, specifically non gps files?

Obviously not to recreate the actual route but just to provide the resistance of the route profile?

A good hilly rout from Benoni is along North Rand Rd; right on the M44; down Edenvale road and up Fishers Hill. At the top right along Geldenhuise; right down Queens all the way past Bruma. Up Silvias Pass. At the bottom, right and you can add Linksfied Drive up the hill to the flats and down then make your way home.

Some GOOD climbing in that route.

As far as i know. Tacx trainers can use a GPX file and a TTs file.

If you wanna do some hill training, ride along Kloof rd in Bedfordview and then drop down to van Buuren, turn around and ride up the same road. I think there are 5 roads.

Also from Kloof rd turn left onto van Buuren and then ride along and turn left into the boomed areas. Not too long climbs but decent gradient!!
