Hi,

I take multivitamins, but not really making anyone richer, Normally they are around R100 for 30 but my wife asked the pharmacist and he gave her Multivitamins that goes R10 for 60 . Have not been sick for 5 years at 1000-2000 km per month so must be working.

I also not sure if it really make difference but rather take it than not.

Read an article a while ago in Rooi Rose of all things that most Omega 3 on Market not as good as they say and as it is bio degradable(if that is right terms) they found some of the pills where it has already gone of and most only up to 30 % of what it says on package.

Do you buy the low fat chocolate milk or the normal Super M? Those low fat ones seemed stupidly expensive

Full cream

Steri Stumpie

Double thick milk shake - most restaurants

I eat and drink well,

but because I put my body under so much stress I do try and put as much back in as possible.

A multi vitamin cannot hurt so if you want to use it.

I take a vitamin c booster, I drink flaxseed oil and I have a shake everyday (loaded with vitamins and helps me drink my 500ml of milk everyday).

I have not been sick in years and I vouch that it is because of using these items.

This all costs me on average R 200 a month (excl. Milk).

I have never taken vitamins regularly, this year I have decided to try, that being said the only vitamins I hit is 1000 mg of vitamin C daily and I eat either Futalife or Biogen which has has a good load of multivitamins as well, so I get pretty well topped up. I cant say for sure, but I certainly feel that I have had less colds and flu this year.

Re the OP's statement that the fitter you get the more prone to illness is not quite right. being fit will boost your immune system and you will get over illness quicker. But when you get run down from hard training you are more vulnerable. You are also more vulnerable to illness directly after a long hard session

Yeah, agree with the conspiracy theory..

I also use Vit-C if I'm not feeling so great, I do believe it does help boost immune system against all the viruses out there.

Wondering if you do take a multivitamin and your body becomes dependent on it and doesn't produce those things naturally.

Your body never produces any vitamins and minerals naturally? You have to consume them, either through food or supplements.

Your body is dependant on those vitamins, but it always has been, starting to take a multivit just means you're actually starting to meet those needs (assuming you werent already getting those vitamins in).

If I can weigh in... I have a pretty great diet (not to be arrogant). But I'm strict with my diet, it's well planned for all my nutritional needs etc etc. But I still take a multivit, because it is almost impossible to get all your required vitamins and minerals in your daily diet.

Anyone who says otherwise, take a multivitamin bottle have a look at what it says on the side, i.e. all the vitamins and minerals.... Then post your daily diet, showing how you get all those vitamins and minerals from the foods you eat???

There may be a select few who acheive this, but I'd be surprised.

What's the name of the supplement?

I take 1000mg Vit C / 2000mg MSM / 2000mg great quality omega 3 and 5g or The Real Thing Green Power per day

Don't eat much salad and 5g of green power has the equivalent nutrients of about 3 large portions of salad. It contains diff sea vegetables, chlorella, wheat and barley grass. Great supplement. The MSM is mostly for joint health. It is also great for allergies (I have asthma) and just an all round super supplement

Nobody can tell me some synthetic powder produced in a factory is going to give you any nutritional benefit over a balanced diet of real food.

If you don't believe this then please stop eating real food and eat a 2 kg tub of your favourite multi-vitamin every day and come tell us how you're doing in a month's time.

Nobody is claiming any of that! It is called a supplement and it means something in addition to your current nutritional plan. Whole/real foods can not be substituted

Like if I have more than 2 beers, I can feel it (slight headache) the next morning, which never happened before.. My wife says its because I'm getting fitter,

Drinking is like any other sport ... you need to stay fit at it.

You are probably drinking less now that you are an "athlete", so when you do drink it affects you.

Drink more often, more volumes and your problem should resolve itself.

I would like to know if anyone advises taking a multivitamin.

It does no harm - take it.!

Do you think vitamin pee is more expensive than Tumbleweed's beer pee?

Depends on the type of Beer, a draught is better bang for buck, but a bit diluted.

I go for the odd vitamin B12& BCO injection from time to time.

Gets me going again.

I have never felt a difference when having those injections
