Why do you only make race registration up until 4pm! Most people work till 5pm, how on earth do they not respect that people work for a living and cannot take 2 hours off of work, every second week, to drive 200km, to fetch a number, that I payed for. I race licensed, so I am also not allowed to pick my number up on race day and now there's a problem with my seeding.

Please Please Please explain the logic for my why you cannot keep registration open up until lets say 7pm or 8pm?

Or have permanent numbers where no collection is needed....

Hi gents,

It is a problem and that is what is so nice about the Amashova. You can get your number sent to you. They charge R80.00 for up to 5 numbers to the same address. Not only is it convenient but it saves on accommodation if you are out of town.

Regards

Sarge.

I Like the way the MTN national races were done. Once off registration where you get your number which is used for all races and all they do on race day is scan your board. Easy, cheap, painless and very logical.

They could look at it the same way road running is conducted.

if you belong to CSA you get a number board for the year of your licence, if you renew next year you keep your race number. at race reg on the day you can get your day licence and day race number board.

this way the race organisers will always get the day licence fee. if you forget your board you par for a day licence fee.

ill pay an extra R100 to CSA for a permanent licence board

Or numbers you can print yourself and put on a blank board.. that should be easy to do.

Yea, i've also found it annoying. Especially now with the Nissan/USN races, i mean i have my board and all i am picking up is stickers ? Why ? The last USN race did not even have goodie bags.

I'm quite happy with coming earlier and standing in a queue before the race for this, that's how running works. As long as they don't allow on-the-day entries for the big races (or payments and filling in forms and other funny business) , i don't see why this needs to be a process that can't happen on race day. In fact, let the people that needs to buy boards and fill in forms drive in their lunch times to whatever random cycleshop was chosen and let the pre-entered people pick up on race day?

Its crazy that we have to go through so much effort just to pick up a sticker that says im doing marathon/half marathon and what batch im in. I mean, if they send us which batch we are in and the time we start, why do we need to put a sticker on to show everyone that you are in batch x. The chip in the board will come up in their system, so if i start early it can DQ me, they dont check everyones stickers at the start line to see if you are in the correct batch. And its not like those goodies are worth the drive either.

One race organiser has taken note and will make a plan to offer a "delivery of race number" service, obviously at a small cost - probably less than what it costs to drive to Fourways, Centurion or Boksburg (depending on where you stay) and time out the office.

As far as licensed riders are concerned, I'm sure a solution can be found - need to speak to the officials nicely.

As far as staying later in the afternoon is concerned, race organisers rely on volunteers to man the number collection point. In most cases the same faces are seen each year at the collection - if more volunteers were available, they could easily extend the hours.

Little did I know, but a courier service was available this year for the Carnival City Macsteel National Classic and will again be offered for 2014.

We are busy checking various options to cater for the working class at number collection.
