Niner S.I.R. SS belt driven.

Recommended Posts

So I have been riding a belt drive for a while now.

Another hubber, make that great hubber approached me wanting a SS belt rive.

It's a challenge, you need a split rear triangle and then an eccentric BB or sliding dropouts.

Match this with a good geometry, brand reputation and Reynolds 853 tubing and the options are very limited.

In steps the S.I.R. 9.

Dips got a good friend of his to engineer the split for us .

The belt rive goodies took a while.

No expenses were spared.

Only the best components will do.

Chris King headset.

Chris King hubs laced on to Sun Ringle Inferno rims.

Bio eccentric V2.

XT cranks with XTR BB.

Seatpost is the Ritchey Trail WCS carbon post.

Ritchey C 260 stem.

Ritchey trail bar.

Yawyd Cap.

Niner carbon fork.

Specialized BG grips.

Shimano XTR brakes.

Awesome.....

How does the belt compare to a chain in the following:-

-Noise

-Drivetrain friction

-stretchyness (if there is such a word?)

-lifespan

This is something I keep my eye on.

SRAM might want XX1, shimano should get their alfine hubs into proper R&D.

i'm guessing the frame warranty is voided?

WAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!

That's a good one. Please, tell us another! Oh, no mr distributor. Your bike broke but we sliced through the seatstay to install a belt drive. So you're still liable...

No chance of a warranty claim on that one.
