Good day fellow Hubbers, this is my very first post and hope someone will be able to assist. I have been cycling for the last 4 months and I have bought myself a new MTB (Merida Big Ninety Nine XT-M). Over the weekend I took my new MTB for its first ride about 27km. To make a long story short the bike was set up by a reputable Cycling shop in Balito and my buttocks hurts (exactly on the 2 bones in my buttocks Marked in Pink in the attached image) , but not on the usual spot, is it the wrong saddle for me or must I move the saddle a bit more back or just get use to the new saddle? And if it’s the wrong saddle how do I know what is the saddle for me? The saddle I have on my MTB is an Selle Italia X1.

My Merida came with that Saddle as well, I think, and it was very uncomfortable for me too. It gave me bad saddle sores, swapped to Fizik Tundra - the bomb!

You might just not be used to it though, may take a few rides to get into it. Also, your bib/chamois will make a difference too!

I hate the Tundra, Gobi is much better for me!

I cant stand or rather sit on the Tundra during long rides.

Gobi all the way

I got a GT mtb earlier this year, it had a Tundra on and I loved it. Then a got a Merida and I said to my dealer I want a Tundra on my new bike, still loving it.

But, I would like to try another Fizik seat, maybe there is a better one.

I have the same problem with my bike. Bought it from hubber (GUY) so maybe wrong seat for me.. So who exactly measures your ass? Not sure if I fancy someone taking a measure tape to my butt.. :D

Im sure a lot of people will gladly lend a hand. :D

Specialized has a tool to measure it. Pressure pad thingy that leaves an indentation of the sit bones which is then measured.

Currently got the Tundra 2 saddle on my XTC, too narrow for my sit bones.

Popping on the Spez Phenom Expert on tomorrow, slightly wider for my fat arse.

Heard only good things about the Phenom, but yes get your sit bones measured.

definitely wrong seat Jeans, I have a Momsen Race saddle - bought the same Sella Italia seat and within the first 3km it felt like I was riding on the "bones of my ass". Swopped back to the Momsen seat fast.

The Momsen seat is flat, whereas I found the Sella to be a bit more convex?
