Too bad its the Lycra clad 29er riding **** that almost took out a little boy in Delta yesterday.

Us "river rats" slow down and pass wide. People have right of way in public parks.

Not everyone that rides a 29er and wears Lycra is an a***hole

Respect for all.

Or we lose our trails. Trust me on this one !!!!

If the walkers clan together, our good for nothing useless police will be maning the Spruit for bribes from bikers that should not be there.

Respect for walkers, kids especially ! They are unpredictable and dogs on or off lead.

Who these River rats ?

I have visions of long travel bikes, full face helmets, protection gear, flat shoes, super short stems, wide bars............a strong hate towards lycra and 29 inch wheels and some people posing next to said bike.

**Oh ,and edit**

It is generic term I picked up here on the hub from the many tireless threads of "free ride" versus "marathon"

If you search the forum, you could find weeks worth of going around in circles and generic terms such as 'river rats', ' 29 inch tjops' and 'lycra wearing douchebags' crop up often.

I can't help but think that Nigel Hicks should come and teach the river rats how to ride their bikes .

I'm sure the lycra trolls can learn a lot more from him.

yes, spot on dangle....aka the spruit massiv. Then there is the rival clan...race for the vida-e cup...spruit@8 bende. You don't want to be around when these two clans face off on the rare occasion. Die poppe gaan dans

You might be surprised.

But then again I don't see the lycra troll rushing off to buy long travel bikes for the coolness factor, they seem to be a tad more level headed.

I reckon the Spruit is made up of many people but two groups that make it unpleasant .

Group number one being the poser rats and group number two the "race snakes" call them average people with delusions of grandeur.

I would sure like to meet these guys.

They are around you all the time.

If you get out of the Spruit and join them on a nice longish ride with some nice technical stuff thrown in to the mix, you might get to see them.

All I have seen from the Spruit cool clan thus far have been injuries and wait for it, more injuries.

The baggy wearers tend to be the ones who constantly target the lycra wearers and commenting as to how much skill they lack, it's only time they return the favor.
