What an exciting stage.

The break tried to stay away.

GO VIVIANI

Yes the last few Km's were good, I liked Danny Martins attack, put a bit of pressure on the peleton straight away, but Wiggins was up to it so it fizzled out. Still a good try by Danny though.

Stage 5:

4 Cat 1's.

Don't forget these are Tour of Britain Cat 1s - not TdF Cat 1s. These are more local koppie than Col... The climbers stand no chance in this race.

One for the roleurs I reckon.

Quite correct there. After watching today's Stage I've noticed there Cat 2's are no where close to TDF.

Wiggins is a good climber yes, but it seems as if he always starts suffering a bit when the pace gets a bit to fast on the hills. He keeps a good momentum going, but as soon as there is an interference on the pace, he tends to struggle to get back into tempo... maybe he proves me wrong

Wiggins isn't a climber but has trained endlessly to be able to climb. It's a different approach to make someone who isn't a natural mountain goat with the explosive attack-back off-attack style. Remember he's a track guy originally and a TT guy, so Sky have taken that and used the best bits of that skill set to make him a threat.

Basically the look at the whole climb and say 'what kind of power do we have to put out over that whole climb to be the first at the top despite what's going on around us'. It's let them go, reel them in. It's not exciting or daredevil stuff but it works and he's got a tour on his sheet and you don't got one of those for free despite what all the arm chair crowers say.

Yeah, I like Wiggins, I think he gets an unnecessarily bad rap in the world media unfortunately, but he is still one of the all time class act's.

This kind of tour is dead suited to him, the climbs are not too severe and he can easily hang on, unless he crashes or something awful, he will be difficult to beat.
