Carbonation does NOT dehydrate you. Caffeine can cause your kidneys to produce more urine which may lead to dehydration, but carbonation is simply the addition of carbon dioxide to a fluid, and has no added effects.

Your rant is based on misinformation, and is therefore invalid.

That is a single speed. He did the whole Kremetart on mtb with a cow bell, final stage was on the ss. I don't think he knows how to pedal without the sound of a cow bell.

So what did they call that process where gas in water forces your own body's water out and dehydrates you... :-)?

Imagination?

Seriously though. They have little to no effect on hydration as compared to water, and are certainly not dehydrating. The research is pretty clear on that as far as I have read.

Yeah I don't see how that works... But it is definitely uncomfortable to drink...

Sorry, I re-read that and can see how I'm being unclear. What I mean is that they hydrate you just as well as, or minimally worse than drinking water would do.

Totally agree on the uncomfortable to drink aspect of it though. Still, wanton claims of dehydration are unfounded at best.

Yeah I'm with you there... Just sounds like someone who had a *** race so had to blame it on the bubbly water, instead of his jelly legs...

i just wish they would clean up all the bunting tape and route markers and return the farm to its pre race state. Was there yesterday afternoon and there was crap all over the place.

Cant be that hard after the race to go round with a bakkie and remove it all?

Wow, give them time.

How about a positive for the clear route markings on the day?

We complain when the markings are bad, but we also complain when the good markings aren't taken down within 24hours.

We suck.
