CRC have never disappointed me. Prices are great. With people like them we don't need South African online shops to mess around with our funds and give us poor service! I wanted to buy a pair of Sidi Shoes from CWC a few months ago, as it came I really had to ask for a discount because my current Bontrager Shoes' cleat got stripped into the sole and it was literally an emergency purchase. I as for 5% discount (diss me if you like, but that is what I could afford) and they did not want to help me, they said NO. (Before I went in I called them and explained my situation and they said, come in we can talk... I kid you not, the very next day I see they have the exact same pair on special for more than 10% less! WTF!!!! I called them and NO ONE recalls me being there, not even the shifting I spoke to... So, I go online, order it from CRC and save more than R 2000! F them is this is how they treat us. The oke asked me if I have such a big problem, why do I not just come back today..... I am 150km away from them, but that's not the point!!!

I would rather spend my money on porn than support them!

Most guys there are easy going and helpful.

But there is one guy there that really gets to me, he's an older guy.

Doesn't seem to know about bikes (i.e. telling me I would have to wait for 650B specific Hope hubs to come in if I wanted a wheelset to be built up, WTF), which is a problem as the youngsters often go to him to ask questions.

His attitude also rubs me up the wrong way.

Isnt it just the spoke length which will differ, as long as the amount of holes in the hub is the same....unfortunately poorly educated staff can give a company a bad name. I mainly had good service with CWC, but I always deal with the same staff.

Exactly, and he has been there a long time IIRC, so should know better.

Usually steer clear of him if I can help it.

But otherwise great service from the other staff.

to all the critics out there, junior and the team are the most professional up to date store in the country. it is high time they open up a store in Gauteng. time to show the LBS how its done.

In your humble opinion???

Perhaps not in mine, nor that of many others.

edit grammar.

Have bought stuff from BuyCycle, CWC and Evo, and in all three cases I have had instances where I ordered something that was shown to be available on their websites but turned out to be out of stock...

To their credit, all three contacted me immediately to either offer an alternative (usually more than acceptable and in one case, they gave me a better part without additional charge - win!), refund, or expedite an order with their suppliers so that my stuff would arrive as soon as possible.

Yes, it is frustrating ordering something that is then not in stock, but I understand these things happen and as long as the local online stores make an effort and communicate like this I will continue to support them. At worst, I have only been inconvenienced by having my order arrive a day or two later than it would have.

Its no worse than driving to the LBS only to find that they don't have what you want in stock - at least you save petrol shopping online!

Stay 150km away, I use their online shop and most of the time it works like a dream but the 5 - 6 times I have been into the shop have been awful. It may be because I am blond and female but when I finally can get someone the give me service they are usually disinterested and/or condescending. I always get the impression that they take one look at me and decide I am not cool enough / hard core enough / rich enough to be a serious buyer.

I took a friend there to buy an entry level mountain bike and the salesman didn't offer to let him sit on the bike let alone test ride it, I had to take it off the display myself and say to the salesman can he take it into the parking lot to try.

It was an embarrassing experience with someone who I really was trying to get into the sport which I love.

It made me appreciate the small LBS where the owner is the salesman and knows that if he treats you well you are likely to go back the next time.

Do yourself a favour. Log off now, and forget about the hub for a week or so.

Nobody criticises CWC or ASG, for any reason, and gets away with it.
