sounds like some of the riders I have been shouting at in this years tour. They only work when they want to. Most just seem to fall over.

Of course as I sit her at my desk this morning pondering the important matters of the world I notice that the damn pool cleaner hasn't stopped once, got stuck or even tried to climb out of the pool ...... Ok so it still misses it's favourite spots .....

I'm hoping without the defending champ that more people will go on long attacks. Very little flat today so not a lot of support riders required.

Worst case scenario is a USPS style train keeping all attacks at bay until 2km to go then Berto taking a minute or two out of Nibs...

I reckon it's gonna be all guns blazing today! Gonna be a corker.

Eldron's notoriously *** prediction for the day - Berto to destroy Nibs. Porte to move ahead of Nibs.

Only 3 weeks of the year I "enjoy" ironing in front of the TV

Strangely enough my wife asked me yesterday why i washed the lounge floor 3 times? I had to explain to her that because our kids messed while they were eating snacks there, that it warranted an extra wash or two, the fact that this was during the final two hills of yesterdays stage had nothing to do with it and was pure coincidence. :whistling:

I reckon Tinkoff-Saxo has to take this stage by the scruff of the neck. Contador has no choice – he has to attack at every opportunity to claw back time on Nibs, and a hard day before the first rest day has to be a big one for them.

And the way to do that is to have the whole team driving off the front all day, making it super hard for everyone else. This is where a strong team earns its salary. It’s still the most effective way to hammer your opponent into submission. Sky in 2012 - 2013 didn’t invent the tactic, they just had the firepower to do it very well. Put your whole team on the front and hammer until people are bleeding out their eyeballs and crying for their mommy. Then, once the peloton has been reduced to a few top GC riders (who should all be isolated by then with no team mates left), launch your man on the final climb.

With the right team, it’s almost impossible to counter… unless you try get a few riders far up the road in the break, keep them fresh by not doing any work in the break, then dropping them back at the end to support the team leader.

Today we get to see if Tinkoff-Saxo are as strong as Mr. Tinkoff says they are. If they are serious about winning this thing, expect to see a wall of lumo yellow and blue jerseys on the front of the peloton driving a brutal pace all day.

Also expect to see the other smaller GC teams do everything they can to get a few decent climbers into the break. The early km's will be frenetic before the break finally sticks.

Meanwhile, in women's racing

Marianne Vos (Rabo-Liv) has capped off a dominant Giro Rosa for her Rabo-Liv team, winning her third edition of the race overall after Dr Emma Pooley (Lotto-Belisol) won the final stage; her third of the race.
