I fear what was meant to be a great showdown between Froome and AC with an outside chance for Nibali is going to be a bit of a none event. Cant see anyone getting close to Nibs in the high mountains. Unless he falls the others are racing for second place now.

shaper Posted July 15, 2014 Posted July 15, 2014 I think the TdF is turning into an awesome race, with all the favourites dropping out, will be interesting to see how the others step up, especially the teams who have been grooming the younger riders for future grand tour success. It will also make for more interesting stages as the contest for yello will yo-yo like it was doing yesterday!! Was a great race yesterday and I think Nibali tried to stamp his authority on the race to the others going forward. I think all teams will need the rest day to regroup and rethink strategy as the race is being blown wide open with the retirement of all the big contenders. Is not easy or good to see retirements of this nature through accident and injury knowing how hard these guys train to get ready for this tour!!
