So with all the crap we get from the coastal dwellers, I found this impressive!

Tonight, at around 7:30, on my usual leg spinning training ride, I got a puncture going down club street in linksfield, just before St Andrews I think...

Had barely turned my bike upside down when someone coming out of a side lane stopped and asked if I was ok... Seemed like a cyclist tho, so if you're a Hubber, you rock man!

Then, a commuter on a 80s clanger stopped to check if I needed the use of his air pump...

Then, a passer by also stopped and asked if there was anything he could do to help...

He hadn't gone 50m before a security van stopped beside the road and waited for me to get back on... They were amazed by the temperature of an expended CO2 bomb!

So for all those who keep ruining the rep, clearly this is still a friendly city where people aren't total asses.

BIG UP YOU JOZI BOYS! KEEP THAT UP!

Yep, joberg is cool. I got a screw in my tyre as I left the office on Tuesday. Tyre was flat just as I got next to the taxi rank in Sauer street. Only one "dodgy" character approached and was quickly chased away by a taxi driver. A dude in a small truck stopped and came running to assist. I have no clue how to fit my tool kit back under the passenger seat or spare wheel under the car as I never got them out in the first place because all I did was stand back and chill :-)

Wow, what nice posts. Nice read, thank you.

I completely agree that Jozi isn't all doom and gloom. Not everyone is a criminal. It is only a handful of them, that give this false impression.

Thehub is a fine example of the above - most of the time we just want to moer mekaar and argue like children but as soon as somwthing serious comes along (like the track world support) we all bind together and help.

I love a feel good story - very uFriday though ;-)

This happens in Cape Town (Coastal Dwellers) so frequently that we dont find the need to post about it everytime. The fact that you felt the need to let others know you got some help, means it probably doesnt happen very often.. up north..
