Shebeen Posted December 12, 2013 Share A coastal ride would be really cool, like maybe a relay of some sort starting at Strand and going all the way along the coast(baden Powell) meeting up on Muizenberg main road, then Argus route through to Town, left at the putt putt in sea point sticking with beach road, through the waterfront, onto the N1 just till MArine Drive and then all the way down Marine Drive through to MelkBos/ Tableview as a finish... (Praying the weather plays its part) LOLwe all know how trying to do a race on baden powell drive turned out! (challenge cape town)
dre Posted December 12, 2013 Share Haha guys keep mentioning existing races. OP reads It must be new, in other words it's not a race that is currently on offer.
NotSoBigBen Posted December 12, 2013 Share I have always fantasised about a one day race which includes a MTB and then a Road leg, around the Grabouw / Elgin / Oak Valley area, great MTB trails, some nice tarmac. 50 Km Mtb then 100 km on road There was an initiative a few years ago, in Gauteng at least, called the 'Winter challenge' that was exactly that, a road race and then straight after a 'triathlon' style transition to a mountain bike race. Was really great fun and intended to keep guys on their bikes in winter and some support to bike shops. It was great fun and as I recall quite a large field but it only took place once if memory serves me right! scotty and Baaisikilist
T-Bob Posted December 12, 2013 Share Something in Lesotho. I'm a sprinters build but I'd go and flog myself there for that. A mini etapesque stage with euro style climbs and steep hair pins. 135kms, 3 serious passes, 4000+ mtrs climbs, killer descents.

Mix it up, almost like a Triathlon type event with a transition area.
Lone_Ranger Posted December 12, 2013 Share MTB race in CT. I know this is currently not on the cards due to SANPARKS regs, but the following route or thereabout would be great. Start in town, hook up the singletrack and jeep track Deer Park side, head around the corner to Rhodes Mem, then up past Kirstenbosch to Cecilia Forest (might need to hit the road for a bit here), then up to Constantia Nek and up Vlakkenberg via the back route, then either down to Tokai or further across to Silvermine, round the dam, then on down to Noordhoek. Could probably do a route all the way to Cape Point if you look hard enough. (Deon) and T-Bob
Jewbacca Posted December 12, 2013 Share Train trip out to up on a Friday night to Maaitjiesfontein, then at 4:00 a.m start a non stop 360km route through the farms and reserves to Durbanville...... Its awesome. And it works.... I have ridden it and the detour over bainskloof pass and down WelvanPas is epic when you are so busted up. Something that might actuallt materialize over the nexr 12 months so watch out for it... Mads

RocknRolla Posted December 12, 2013 Share Start at silverstar casino, ride to kingskloof using dirt roads and singletrack. Lap of the normal red/ black route inside kingskloof, then singletrack to avianto, a loop of avianto blue and black, over the hill to heya safari, loop of heya safari and a finish close to a pool with a beer garden and hospital. JanJan Posted December 12, 2013 Share does the Sani Trans Frontier still exist? Ya, it does. Its probably the most climbing that one can fit into a half marathon distance! My ideal race would be similar to a Mt. Ventoux setup, with a 60 km route that you need to end off with the Sani Pass climb, with hundreds of supporters along the way.
