Geesh, some people have serious complexes about gravity riders...

...were they teased by the BMX kids in school?

But seriously... why do some care so much who wears baggies and rides a big bike on the spruit. Just like I've learnt not to care about the spruit rider dressed in team kit, gunning it like he's fighting for 1st in the world champs XCO. (Yes, I used to care, but whatever man, I just go have fun on MY bike, riding MY way).

Fact is, that guy is probably training for something bigger. And if racing XCM is his thing, then great for him. And hats off to him, that sort of endurance takes work, dedication, diet etc.

Likewise, the 6" gang is out there to have fun, session pieces of trail and try new things. (Not too race 29er SSRs) And believe it or not, some of those guys are damn fast on the national DH and enduro circuit and can ride lines that most can only relate to by watching riding movies.

Also... Who do you think builds the fun singletrack bermed lines, bridges, bypasses and takes care of general trail maintenance on the spruit... Yes, it's the guys in the baggies with big bikes. (I have yet to see someone in lycra lifting a shovel. The general populous just complain when the trail doesn't suit them, but they are not willing to help with the work and build what want).

Anyway, I digress... yes, we're all different. Yes we wear different clothes. And yes, there are guys out there that may not be Greg Minnaars, Nino Schurters, Burry Standers or Chris Froomes, but have disposable cash to buy a pricey replica bike , just because that's who they look up to. Us poor folk just need to deal with it.

Let's go back on the thread, it was one of your own kind that set the bar for the discussion.

As for Chris Froome, the roadie, yes that guy.

I will guarantee you that he will put ears on the majority of gravity riders if you put him on a 6 inch bike.

Really? I think this thread was derailed in the 3rd or 4th post by DIPSLICK... Then you had the urge to swing your dick about passing 6" trail bikes on your hartail 29er (big deal  ). I'm not sure how a signature model DH bike equates to your awesomeness of overtaking AM bikes on the spruit? Also how does equating a professional road cyclist (Froome) with a recreational rider work and what is the point of this comparison?

A couple of you XC blokes seem to have developed serious complexes for some reason? You should really try to have more fun on the bikes you have chosen to own.

Unless Vetseun and Escapee wear TLDs, I'm pretty sure they haven't been accepted into our elite mountain bicycling gang.

And how did Froome get involved in this? You don't get to bring a Froomedog to a Spruit fight.

It started way back at post no. 4 (not by you). No DHer had said anything yet, and the "maybe then I can be cool like the DH kids" comments started. And many more followed.

But no matter. And yes Chris Froome may beat most big bike riders on here at their own game, but bear in mind he's a professional, just like Danny MacAskill (a trials rider) shamed most roadies at the Argus with a 3:15 (and I know you're probably faster than that, the fact is still that he doesn't ride road, but beat the majority at their own game). Again, he's a professional all, comparing ourselves to those guys can only demoralize.

So yeah, we should all just compare ourselves with ourselves. Ride for fun. If fun is clearing that 2m gap that had you poop scared, then awesome. If it's trying to conquer your 14m nemesis on a national DH track, then awesome too (I failed btw. Was half a meter short and cased on the knuckle... So yes, we big bike riders fail... often  ), if it's getting your heart rate down by 10bpm while clocking the same time, then awesome still. And if it's going for a distance that most would only do by car... awesome.

Ride. Have fun. Buy the bike you want (and can afford). Wear the clothes you want. Don't compare yourself to pro's, it'll only make you feel worse. Don't compare yourself to other riders... there is ALWAYS somebody better.

But again... have fun!

Back to the topic... The bike is awesome and it is brilliant that a local rider is getting the privilege of having a signature/replica frame for his achievements in his sport.

That said, I don't see too many (if any) being sold locally.

Man oh man alive, I never said it was me, stop making assumptions.

And go back again you seemed to miss the part where the old SomeBloke made the reference to the 29ers being slower downhill, or did you miss that bit, selective reading as they call it.
