Does anyone know how the dude, who rearranged his facial features on the concrete road, is doing?

No idea. Shame man, that poor bloke must be hurting. Thanks to the lady practitioner that stopped to help. Also to you and your mates with the medi kit. Seeing that was a real eye opener for me.

If you want to buy my g-form elbow and knee pads you can have first option.

Seems like you need them more than I do.

They brand new never been used.

A mate of mine is in hi-care ,he was moved from ICU at Unitas today, the details are all vague to me but I follow the updates as his wife posts on his Facebook wall.

Seems he was the bad crash everyone is referring to.

He did.

Was riding a Santa Cruz Highball if I'm not mistaken.

His father in law was also riding.

No, we didn't see it but he must have lost the front end which probably happened 10-15 seconds before we got there.

My 16yo son did the 45 km. He would love to do the big one but luckily there's an age restriction on it. He is a big boy (tips the scales at 100 kg - heads up future Buffalo). Phoned me at the first uphill almost crying from backache. I told him to do what he thinks best. He, of course, carried on and finished in 3:12 and loved it (7th in his age category).

I have one problem now, he wants to do downhill racing!!! LOVED the downhills, can't stop talking about it. Told him until he is on his own medical aid, no downhill racing will be done!

He will definitely be back next year and can't wait until he is 19 to do the big one and of course the Cape Epic!

Every time I curse myself for riding with the Camelback and a mini toolbox and spares and first aid kits in. Then the huge mechanicals happen and I read stories like this and it just makes the decision seem right. Rather have it and not need it than not have it. Hope he gets well soon, and everybody else who had a fall as well.

Thug always ask me if I plan to return when he sees me with my big Camelpack . But at the Monster I first helped a dude to replace a tube (one tube gone) , then I found a gentleman lying under a tree as sick as a dog . Out come the ouch-pouch and I give him a few pills . After the farmhouse another breakdown , rear caliper lost a bolt , cable tie , then at the Tower Climb , lady with chain problems . Luckily she had her own spares but it was all in the back pack . Funny thing is I have never put a bladder for water or brandy into my back pack . That how we roll .
