I am stuck in my ways and have to say wing mirrors are the way to go, because if you hit the sweet spot they become portable, and can either be thrown into the car or very far away from it to buy you some time.

reminds me of a school trip long time ago, in Istanbul - my teacher, then a 55 year old man, crosses the road, gets almost taken out by a mini bus. He walks to the side of the car, with one swift movement removes the side mirror, walks to the driver's window and gently places it on the driver's lap. smoothest move ever :-)

My one team mate used to do that. Remember those old Time metal cleats? Denny had great fun with those and car doors.

Classic. For sure, those were brutal bits of kit to have on the bottom of your shoes. Have seen more than a bit of paint alteration after a disagreement out on the road with those bits of kit.

Those things were also the worst idea for setting up as well.

Can't believe the paper reports it as a passenger throwing the punch, clearly the driver.

Can't quite tell towards the end, but it looks like the puncher could be getting into the back seat. May be wrong though.

dunno, looks like drivers door is open. reckon the reporter got confused because at the first stop the guy speaks through the front passenger door(LHS). UK cars obviously are right hand drive.

I think about 10 or 11 people died in accidents last year while cycling in London.

I think a lot more than that died in London last year ?

It's hectic for cyclists in London

Although I'm not condoning the cyclists actions - maybe it was the last staw for a number of near misses or transgressings that made him act like a d**s - God knows we have all been there ???? :whistling:

The number of fatalities fell for all road user types except pedal cyclists (up from 107 in 2011 to 118 in 2012) and bus and coach occupants. Pedestrian fatalities fell by 7 per cent, motorcycle fatalities fell by 9 per cent, car occupant fatalities fell by 9 per cent, and goods vehicle occupant fatalities remained the same as in 2011.

You need the patience of a saint in London traffic.

That said, if you are going to start something, you really should be equipped to deal with the consequences when they arise.

I had a Porsche cut me up by pulling into the bus lane between the Oval and Brixton to skip traffic. I squeezed past him and gave his wing mirror a hearty smack, and at the next junction I hear this revving behind me, and the tool rams me from behind - with his porsche - into my bicycle. Chain fell off so unfortunately could not give chase as he high-tailed it out of there.

Feck,

What an absolute cock. White vans and expensive sports cars seem to be driven by absolute tossers.

Glad you didn't get hurt.

Here is the video on youtube. (I battled to play it on the DailyMail site.)

Call the police, show video, lay charges. What a tool.

I reckon a good squeeze of whatever you have in your juice bottle through the window is harmless enough to not have a lawsuit or charge thrown at you but enough to really puss off the driver. If you have hammer perpetuam then in a few days the driver will be even angrier!
