I've always been very happy with Conti GP 4000 (Road Tyres) The last set I bought the front tyre started showing small cracks all over. It still run's fine, no leaks, no hobbles just the small cracks. Will keep on riding them until they ????? disintegrate or puncture continuously

What he said

you using protection prawn....not tubeless...the conti versions actually have it written in white on the tyre...protection = snakeskin in schwalbe...like D said, just tougher, but not tubeless....we coverted them at my spot

Ok, which is the tubeless version for the 29" wheels?

Ive never seen them so a link will help too

You get the normal version, then you get the Protection... whats the tubeless version?

They were converted long before your spot, we topped up with sealant, I know the differences between the contis Ive been riding them for years...

If you read above I was specifically talking about the Race King Protection side walls.

I then also asked fanievb wheres the link for the tubeless 29" conti tyres, which I know you dont get.

Chukky is quite right - I haven't see or heard of a 29er Raceking or XKing in UST.

I have no idea why the sidewall is disintegrating like that. Looks like a car tyre that's been ridden flat for 100km!

Its strange that they dont make them in UST, that would be a win

Dont Maxxis hold some patents to the UST term and functions, Im sure I read something to this effect some time ago but I stand to be corrected.

I know that all my 26" conti's were UST and bullet proof

If they made them UST they would weigh as much as a buffel tyre... kind of like a crossmark

I have now been disappointed a third time with my Conti's.

My First GP 4,000's (clinchers) rear tyre lasted 300km before the wall casing gave in. Sent them back but they said it was my fault. (not a factory fault). I did not hit anything.

Then I got a set of their top of the range racing clinchers from which the front wheel lasted 500km before the rubb...snip snip

Time to move on. Got 2 x Tufo's in my mancave and will fit them just before Ironman. Done with Conti's. Maybe I am just unlucky but I expected more from their product / after sales

The only conti's I will use are Gatorskins (folding) on my roadbike and Mountain kings UST 26" if I still had a 26"mtb.

Tried the GP4000 - didnt last 1 race season and the sidewalls were falling apart, threads everywhere.

The Ultrasports were extremely soft and didnt last at all.

My Schwalbe Ultremos, also started to come apart, at the joins in the black and white rubber used. still have them on my track bike, still work though after 2 years.

I have been using Vredestein Fortezza Tricomps (race wheels), and also Vittoria Robino Pro's (training wheels), both work well.

Gotta love 'generalisations' but anyway here's some X-King non tjoopless (fitted tjoopless) and a Mountain King protection (fitted tjoopless) and as you can see no sidewall leaks and have had no issues so far but each to his own ......

And that SSR is quite hard on tyres in my experience :whistling:
