Morning all

Bought my Powercal strap ywsterday and would like to know do i keep my Edge 705 of buy the joule GPS? I know the edge wil work etc so the question is not about compatability but more as to what headunit will show me what values and does the joule rework the data rewcieved or not?

Any other info will be regarded as GOLD thus far.

Ps Just bought a raceware and barfly mount for the 705 so it also sits outfront with the help of the little sram adapter.

Regards

My edge 500 has more than enough power variables to choose from to display

Current Power

Avg Power

Lap Avg Power

3 Sec Power

10 Sec Power

30 Sec Power

Max Power

I don't see the point of getting a joule if you have all of those options to be honest...which I think you have on the 705.

I'd say keep the edge.

You can get a lot of data from your edge.

Welcome to the world of power, soon you will become more interested and all the other power meters will start screaming at you to buy them.

I know the powercal is not a powermeter but more of a power "guesser". when i have the bokkies i will buy something in the line of a power2max, for now i would like to see power on my roadbike aswell as the mtb and just get to know the whole power thing.

Do i continue with garmin connect of do i look for new software for viewing the data?

Why not look at doing a block at wattlab or cadence if you want to get into the power thing cheapily. Also its controlled environment with no variables with a training program specifically around your numbers on proper power meters, so no watt delay or guesswork as with powercal

As far as software....go Sporttracks...its free and has everything you would need.

I use Golden Cheetah and it's FREE

The power plugin thingy, I don't think that's free?

Using Powercal with Edge 500. I don't look at data when riding but its useful later for analysis. (and its pretty accurate)

So if one purchases the powercal strap it will show my perceived power output on the Garmin?

I also use it for analysis after and for keeping an eye on my training load e.g. if my 'peaking' for on event is working ....

Keep your 705, you won't be sorry. I've used that with PC since I've had it - no issues. You can view the data on the head unit and afterwards. GC does display the power data, but... just get Golden Cheetah, like somebody said. Much better (for the power side of things) - and free.

The TP guys are working on WKO4 - but it's not available yet and it sure won't be free.
