shatterpruf Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 So February 2013 i bought a new GT Series 1 Matt Black Roadbike from my Lbs. Five months down the line and on a DC training ride ride with the owner of my Lbs the frame cracks were the centre tube and top tube converge. The Rep from Omnico (GT) was quick to say they will replace the frame and eventually after 2 weeks a replacment was found. They couldn't source the excact frame but "upgraded"(downgraded) me to a 2012 frame with carbon rear stay, woha, and with slight damage(chips) on the paint work. This was a grey/black frame with yellow dacals. The Mattblack carbon fork didn't match the laquerded finished frame but the one tonner and DC was around the corner and i needed the riding time. I was also convinced that i am getting better value with this upgrade. I had to fork out rebuilding costs and an extra appr. R2000.00 because my original compact crank did not fit the BB of the "new' frame. I was told that if this new frame crack they will replace me with a XXL frame, although the XL frame is suitable for my size. I am 98kg and 1.86m. Well now seven months down the line and the "new" frame cracks at exactly the same place. On the first day i was told they will replace the frame, no problem, they must just find one in the store. Well after nagging my Lbs every day it took them 11days to find a frame, Matt White in XXL. Obviuosly i'm not happy with a white matt finish frame and had to phone the Rep from Omnico on the Lbs advise....."Well in short i was told to take what is offered and thats it. Unless i can wait a couple of months(4-6) and they can try to ship a frame from "who knows were". Still not happy..." but sir then u can phone the whoever from GT and yes you can get his details on the back of the GT brochure or from your LBS". So i have to fight this on my own!!!! This is a OMNICO statement....As a company that has been in the lifestyle industry for over 20 years, we pride ourselves on distributing our products only through the best retail outlets,that add value to our brands by offering their customers the support they need to enjoy their lifestyle. Well Omnico/GT i did not get the support i needed to enjoy my lifestyle and will go somewhere else with my money in future or stay without your products.

If its not this years model they probably dont have a stockpile of frames in all sizes and colours sitting around. That would be ridiculous and bad business. Being pushy and calling your LBS every day to nag them about something that is beyond their control is also pathetic. Dry your eyes, put on your big boy pants and rather don't throw your toys out of the closet like a brat.
lerouc Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Yoh this is pathetic. the only time i had to deal with them was with my gopro. Their mount snapped and my gopro hit the pavement at 50km/h. They just asked for my invoice and replaced the gopro and mount no questions asked. Maybe take a trip down to their offices? They in lansdowne.

hanlou Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Die feit dat jy al reeds met vorige vervanging maar teen jou wil die ouer raam geneem het aangesien jy moes oefen vir DC dink ek regtig die keer moet hul meer moeite doen om jou as klient te vrede te stel.Die GT padfiets is beslis nie n entry level nie so my mening is hul moet jou ook nie beskou as n entry level fietsryer nie.Die verbruikers wet sal jou beskerm , hul mag nie joun in n slegter posisie plaas as wat jy voor die voorval was nie.Ek sal maandagf jou die wet en artikels copy en paste. sterkte. die ander ouens wonder ek wat sal hul reaksie gewees het as hul in jou situasie was.

Tenspyre van jou swak gramatika en die gebrek aan 'n vraagteken, glo ek jy was besig om 'n vraag te vra. Ek was al in 'n soortgelyke situasie en die antwoord is eenvoudig. My fietswinkel het namens my met die agente onderhandel en omdat ek nog 'n d@@s, nog 'n idioot is het ek onmiddelik gesnap dat geen besigheid kan bekostig om 'n onbeperkte vooraad rame in elke kleurskakering in voorraad te hou nie. Dus het ons baie vinnig op 'n wedersydse aanvaarbare oplossing gekom. Uit al die opsies het ek gekies om 'n klein inbetaling te maak om 'n beter raam te bekom - nogal teen groothandel prys. Twee dae later was ek, sonder enige koste om die fiets te herbou, weer op die pad. Maar soos ek gese het, my uitgangspunt was nie om onredelik te wees nie. fanievb 1
